As for the newspaper advert.... This might not apply to internet reserve orders and I think they had the old "While stocks last" clause and the fact they seem to have got NEW stock in might be a get out clause
There is no "while stocks last" clause on the advert and nowhere does it state that internet reserve orders are excluded.

For example it could mean ends at 0:00 hours on Thursday
If thats how Argos do it, then the "Offer ends 29th November 2006" stated on the website would mean that the offer would have ended at 00:00 29th November (Wednesday), when in fact it ended at 23:59 29th November. Thus "Ends Thursday" should also mean that it ends on Thursday 23:59

Does anybody have a number for Argos head office or similar? I tried saynoto0870 but the number provided seems to be a fax number.

    Many thanks.
    YO!

Anyone else had their order for the remote cancelled by Woolworths?

With reference to order number xxxxxxxxx.

Yes but what you are not getting is the fact it can be interpreted in both ways and they are therefore (legally) in the clear...

As for the "While stocks last" clause not being in I will have a look tommorrow as I still have 2 of the different papers in my work.

No I thanked wishingonastar who was kind enough to post the url and the price first time! :p

No worries, I'll get one elsewhere.

    Happy Christmas!

  • I ordered an Xbox and the 4 game pack on Sunday when i first heard of the offer, but after completing the order I received no confirmation email from Argos.

I really should have at least saved a screenshot or printed the final page but there was even a clause that said 'There is no need to re-send this order' and out of habit of receiving emails from stores almost immediately, I closed the page...

I sent an email to Argos early on Tuesday asking them to look into it, and only got a reply this morning (3 days later, not within 48 hours as they supposedly reply in) saying they have no record of any orders made by me... They suggested checking with my bank which I had been regularly doing online anyway to see if they had taken the money - which they hadn't.

If they'd replied within the 48 hours from my enquiry I could have ordered again last night - but of course this morning the console is now £89.99... Is there any way i can talk them into giving me one for £49.99 as that was the advertised price when i ordered, and they also made me miss another opportunity with their slow reply...

Any ideas of how I can prove to them I made the order??

(I checked my browser history to see if i could get to an order page but it's only set for 3 days recall at the moment :@)
  • I'm guessing no! Even people who made reservations before the price hike and have print outs to prove it have had to come away empty handed... though some have been lucky. But without proof I doubt you'll get anywhere.
    Sorry :(
