does anyone know how to transfer the save file to xbox (unmodded) to use the exploit and softmod it?
I havent got any emmory card atm. Is it possible to use a USB stick or FTP?

AFAIK you must use a mem card to transfer to an unmodded xbox unless you have access to a modded xbox - then you can ftp it.

hi guys, i just brought a xploder wich includes a 8mb memory card at Currys digital, it cost me £4.96. I then got splinter cell (classics)for £3.99 brand new at Game.
Can anyone recommend a easy to understand softmod guide?

The one from ebuyer is the cheapest I can find, they used to have a B version of it which I bought for around £15 but they no longer sell it.

Yes. If you connect to Live with the softmod enabled you will be banned within 24 hours.
You need to have the softmod disabled in order to safely connect to live without getting banned.

The easiest way of doing this from my experience is by coldbooting a game - i.e. Turn on the xbox with the (original!) live game already in the drive. Note that for this to work you need to have already set up a gamertag on the xbox prior to softmodding it.

You can get a USB adapter for the Xbox which will allow you to use a standard USB stick. On this you put the exploit via your PC.

TBH - Quickest and cheapest way is to get someone to put the exploit on yours. It's simply a case of copying the gamesave from one memory device to another. This is done on the standard Xbox menus.

When I did mine, I put the memory unit which had the exploit save in, copied it to the hard drive and did it form there. The game save is still on my hard drive, so can easily be copied back onto a memory unit.

£5 is a good price for the full xploder package, and the memory card is guaranteed to work with it.

You can build a xbox usb adapter for the cost of a usb extension cable and an old xbox pad (or xbox extension cable). As w1zz says, you can just buy one if you prefer. Cheaper to buy the full xploder package though, if currys have it at £5. If you really don't want to spend money you can do a hotswap (that is, power up the xbox and then quickly unplug the ide cable from the back of the hd and connect an ide cable from your pc to the hd). Now that all the bits needed to exploit it can be had for under £10 it isn't really worth the hassle imo.

Most softmod installers block xbox live, so there is no chance of you getting banned. Most also offer dualboot functionality (that is, you poweron with the power button and get your normal modded system. poweron with the eject button and the softmod is disabled), so you can still use live if you wish.

If you want to upgrade the hard drive to a larger one and wish to use live then you must change the hard drive before ever connecting to live, else MS will detect a system change and ban you.
