Well after my first xbox from argos died after 2 minutes, my new one is great! The girlfriend is giving me disapproving looks so i've turned it off for now. Does anyone know if I use a xbox dvd remote with it (so it codes as region 2), will i have problems if i play non region 2 dvds after modding it?? thanks

Once you mod it, you can use dvdx2 or xbmc to play dvd's from any region, even if you have used the remote.

Its comments like these that make people NOT post deals... I Went INSTORE like the OP had and got my DVD remote for £4.99. As usually happens on these boards the deal can be Web/Instore specific.. Maybe try using the same method as the OP before you start to criticise

had the same on my first attempt, no record of the order cos i shut the screen. rang them up got an instant reply to say they had no evidence of the order, somehow the system had let me order something that was out of stock basically.

Ok Scooter - maybe you need to read Dork tecknique's un-called for comments from 11:19 yesterday to get the background on this.

For what it is worth I did visit the store before trying online.

I do however take exception to someone being an !!!!! with several posters because they have not received enough "thank yous" from everyone. Its pathetic like a little baby "Aw mommy nobody loves me boohoo"

You must softmod before you can put XBMC on.

I've just done it this evening. Worked a treat. Now for the other two and I have my media streamed to every TV in the house.

Anyone who picks me up 3 DVD remotes in woolies can borrow the Splinter Cell and Xploder I used. (Obviously I'll pay for the remotes!)

I don't need to borrow the splinter cell but I'm going to see if there are any remotes near me today as I need another. Will get extra if there are any.

If not and someone else helps you, you don't need to send the exploder - just the memory card (with exploit saves on) and splinter cell.

You also have no need of the exploder any more either, you can now just ftp the exploit save files directly to the hard drive / a memory card with your modded xbox. This also gives you more choice of exploit packages to use (although there are only two main ones - Softmod Installer Deluxe and Krazyies Installer).

Thanks for the advice and offer re: DVD remote Ken-dodds.

Actually I'm going to go out today and try and get a second softmod "kit" in case someone on here needs it.

BTW for anyone looking at finding the right game, Splinter Cell CLASSICS definitely works.
