  • I ordered this last week, it arrived promptly but from Singapore and the enclosed invoice says £13.63. I have not used it yet, have compared it to an old genuine box and must say it does look like the genuine article. Could the enclosed invoice be something to do with customs. I know that I have ordered skin care from the USA before and the enclosed invoice with that also stated that the goods were worth a lot less than I paid, something to do with customs.

I have emailed Discount Pet Care to ask how I would return this if I wish to have a refund, do you send it via Singapore???

Now the question is, do I dare to use it on my dog. Surely if it is counterfeit, would it be dangerous or would it merely be water in the pipettes. Obviously I would never dream of giving my dog something that is oral.

    Help, what do I do?:(
  • I did not know that.Any company offering the product like this should be avoided completely. In fact, i was about to order something but will not do it now.

I think there is a simple answer here:
if it's too good to be true it IS too good to be true, in other words it's a scam or illegal.

If the drug you want is POM from your vet then anyone selling it on the internet is to be avoided like the plague........it's illegal, simple as that (and the chemicals could be anything. Would you buy drugs for yourself from over seas?)

There are plenty of genuine UK companies which sell over the counter veterinary products at a discount. I seem to think there is a 'sticky' at the top of the board. If in doubt just ask the question on the forum, plenty of pet lovers will give you their recommendations.

  • I have used this company once. I placed my order and found I needed a prescription for the items I wanted, I paid for a prescription from my vets for Milbemax and Advocate and posted the prescription to the address given but received the items back before the prescription could have got there.

I was concerned that they had sent my goods before I had sent the prescription so I rang my credit card company and told them I was unable to telephone this company and asked if they could check and see if everything was in order, they said as far as they could see this company was registered and no red flags were against it. They said they would Red flag my account in case the company took any more money from me.

After I received the drugs, I was worried about them being fake so I emailed Bayer with the Batch numbers and expiry dates and some other numbers on the packs and was told they were the originals.

I used these drugs on my dog and he has not had fleas or worms at all. I am now going to purchase these items from my vet, as I need peace of mind, even though it will cost me more in the long run.

I did email Discount petcare and asked why they could dispense prescription drugs with a prescription, and they said they bought them from a country where they did not need prescriptions for the items.

I ordered from this site (Advocate for my dog) and it arrived with the customs sticker on - didn't think anything of it as I am not up on all the legalities. Used it on my dog on 11th September and she is ok so far... Worried now though !

I fell for this scam and even worse used it on my four dogs ended up with mites flease mange ear infections boils and spots. That was last year still having problems its cost me a fortune to put this right. Just started to use the animal trust in bolton they only charge for the meds no consulting fees and they are fab vets. You can even take your prescription elsewhere they dont mind. I am not a vet. They are for pets, not profits really recommend them.
I have just reported discount pet care on their ad on preloved web site and will continue to report them anywhere else i find them
Im lucky my dogs are still with me.
  • Glad I read all this as I opened my eyes to the legalities, etc.

Slightly confused why anyone would use DPC anyway as they are more expensive than many other sites, who are selling legitimately, even taking into account the prescription price.

Notice that they are using Adwords to come out top of the paid listings in Google searches, so if illegal surely Google should do something about it, let alone the host bigdaddy??
  • That website is still in use and even worse they have a Facebook page to make them look legit.
I only found them as I was googling Profender when I discovered the need for prescription. Website looks strange and in the Terms & Conditions there is a very dodgy statement about getting extra charges on your card which made me start googling this company and thank goodness for this forum. AVOID THIS COMPANY.
  • I am a vet and often am asked to write prescriptions so my clients can buy medication more cheaply from elsewhere. I don't mind if people do this as I would rather pets are treated than not, and I know money is tight. I only ever recommend that people buy from regulated, UK-based pharmacies. There is an easy way to see if an online retailer is legit - all UK internet pharmacies (including those selling veterinary medicines) must be registered by the General Pharmaceutical council. They will have a green logo on their website with a registration number. There is more information on the General Pharmaceutical Council's website (it won't let me post the link, but if you search "General Pharmaceutical Council Internet Pharmacy UK" you should find the right page).
Registration will only be granted once the Pharmacy council has visited the premises and are satisfied that medicines are sourced from registered UK veterinary wholesalers and that the law is adhered to fully.
    I hope this helps!!
If you care for your pets at all you won't even consider this Discount Pet Care place.

"I have spoken with the VMD today and they are aware of discountpetcare and are working to get this company shut down. I have also been in touch with goDaddy.com, the hosting company for discountpetcare and informed them. They assure me that discountpetcare will be removed in a few days"

Well 2 years later and the company is still up and running!

Of course the other take on it is many UK based pharmacies do not want you to purchase from other competitors and will say anything to put you off.

    I'm still undecided.

I would give you ten thousand thanks for this advice if I could. It make me mad that someone is making money from pet owners who are trying to do the right thing to buy medication for the animals in their care but are then not only being ripped off but possibly the counterfeit drugs could do the pets harm.

Thank you Love_my_pets for this extremely useful post :T
