Afternoon All (she says sneaking her head round the corner)

Belated :bdaycake: EG - hope you have a good one

    :bdaycake: Flutterby

Sorry to be MIA but have a heavy caravanning schedule at the moment:o

We were just outside Lincoln this weekend, and it was beautiful weather, Saturday was really warm. Popped in Lincoln on Friday to BHS as they had a 20% off cardholders offer on :D So got some new tops (I find theirs wash well and hold their shape) which were also on offer anyway, and some new PJ's the same ;)

DS was home upon on return, bringing the car back as the insurance was just OOT, and it is not a necessity for work. So it feed him and us, sort out some paperwork for him, put up with Footy (DH isn't a fan:D) make him a loaf to take back, and then get him to the station.

Today has been a HW and sort out day, 2 loads of washing already on the line, and another one in, and another one to go in. A lick and a promise (as my Mum used to call in) around the place to remove a layer of dust, as we had 2 windows fitted last week. Currently spending 3 days here and 4 away, so having to try to fit everything in. Out again on Thursday, and fitting a trip to the hairdressers in on Wednesday, and possibly out the following weekend down to London to take things for DS & GF when they move into their first flat together.

Tonight we are out with a very good friend who will shortly celebrating her 70th, it seems to be lasting about 3-4 weeks at the moment.

Someone said this weekend about how we managed to fit all the trips in, but as I said, I can stay home when I am either skint, infirm or not here IYKWIM. There have been so many quick loss of people around us lately, we are going to enjoying things while we can.

((((hugs))) to those worried about their jobs, I can remember the feeling we used to go through the redundancy routine regularly, and luckily managed to miss, and each time got a bit longer service, but the worry was always there. :grouphug:

    Congrats to Gers :T:T:T

Congrats too to all those of you losing weight, I cannot get my head around it, though would love to drop a size or two for my big 6-0 later in the year.

((((hugs))))) Hi-5's, Spoons to those of you not up to par, or going through the wars. Lowsey usually if you officially foster you do get paid for it, so the finances may not the quite as strained. ((hugs)) to your DNeice.

    Take care all - DG

Candygirl, why not ask on the Greenfingers board for some advice on your seedlings.

Elona, I know what you mean about the expenses, we have an allotment this year and DH is spending money on a new shed, greenhouse, pots, equipement etc. etc. I keep saying we should be asking on Freecycle but no, only the best for his allotment <rolls eyes> Though we did get some money and vouchers for Christmas so I was able to persuade him to put that towards the allotment instead of spending it on stuff.

Have got some sultana fairy cakes on to bake. Decanted some of the washing powder I got in Lidl on Saturday into smaller containers (Lidl's own brand, 100 wash box, £8.99 :D) and put the DW on again. Want to do some more washing but I have run out of airer space :( . Also sourced some 27" inside leg jeans online and ordered a couple of pairs :T

The brood will be desending in an minute so I won't get a lot more done today.

It is really dark outside now and looks as if it may rain later.

Tigerfeet -really reluctant to use insurance as would lose all the no-claims bonus. I do have some savings, so they'll have to take the hit this time (no pun intended!) Thanks for the very good advice re DS - he needs to just do it, doesn't he? He's reached a place where he wants everyone to do things for him, and in the end I guess they will, but I'd love to see him being proactive for once.
Well, no progress on the paperwork front yet, but I have a gleaming kitchen floor, 2 loads of washing drying, handwashing done as well, BM on, mud splashes from the dogs wiped from the walls - in fact everything except the stuff I really ought to be doing!
Had HM soup for lunch and will be turning the left over beef into a curry later on.

Definatly understand the logic with the car. Hope it doesn't end up taking to much of your savings.

Yeah! I reckon it would help him, mentally, if he just does it. Can you take a mobile phone in for him or does he have access to a phone and have the number he needs to ring and then get him to do it there and then with you there to support him. Having suffered MH difficulties myself, though not quite as bad, I do understand where he is coming from.

    Afternoon everyone :)

    happy birthday flutterby and essexgirl

Probably pasta for dinner tonight :( (I hate pasta, but OH loves it so I tolerate it once in a while) put some laundry in before I went to work - asked OH to switch it on as he left, but I don't know if he did or not.

Need to email the letting agent about the Tibetan singing toilet as the neighbours are getting annoyed with it. Honestly - we had a leak, so they sent a plumber and now everytime you flush it it sounds like it has a whale stuck in it until the cistern fills. *sigh* (and everytime it gets flushed, OH yells "Ahhh... the toilet whale is pleased with your offering" :rotfl: but it is getting annoying to the extent I have been filling the cistern manually with the shower to try and stop it recently).

Our first offer on the house was rejected this morning. The estate agent said that "we should put our best foot forward as they were showing someone else round who they think will put in an offer" Not sure what to do as it sounds like well... something I should feed the toilet whale... to be honest. OH took the call so I don't exactly know what was said, he's not used to this to-ing and fro-ing as it is a different system in Germany. i want to wait, he wants to put another offer in, but i will not be drawn into a bidding war when I don't even know if the other person exists or not.

There was another offer on the house with another EA but that one was not proceedable so they put it back on the market. I would like to know what that offer was, but I don't know if I should phone the other EA and ask.

have a good day all, cel x

CBA'd talking at the moment, but Happy Birthday to the girlies, well done on the weight loss to JackieO - I need to start moving to help mine go quicker - and hugs spoons and hi five where needed. Just planted up my hanging baskets for the spring with Violas and ivy, and very nice they look too.

Its an air lock somewhere in the pipes (we had the same thing) there should be a small turn off valve somewhere on the pipes doing down to the floor, try turning this off for a while, then turn on and flush !!

HI again, Just had to pop back and tell you what a good girl I've been today. Loaded the car up to take junk to the skip and talked OH into coming with me to have a look at a second hand camper van (cheap holidays). Anyway, to cut a long story short we ended up buying a much larger camper van (can sleep 5-6) but it will be MUCH more comfy and has an inbuilt shower room which is fab. This will be out holidays for the next 10 plus years - which I think will help with DS1s autism as the surroundings will ALWAYS be familiar.

Spent the afternoon replanting my apple trees into their new bed and my rhubarb (although I appear to have lost 4 rhubarb plants this winter :( ). Then since the boys have been home from school we've planted purple carrots, chillis (for making chilli oil!) sprouts, purple sprouting broccoli, onions and have prepared the planters for lettuce. My youngest was over the moon - think he'll expect to eat them tomorrow though!! Better get on and make the tea and then get the washing in before the chill descends. Have a nice evening all!! x
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.
