Don't worry about missing it - once you're the other side of 40 don't think it is a major thing :rotfl: good thing was I thought I was 43 then worked out I am 42 :j:o
Lol Essex - that's made me giggle :rotfl: Happy belated birthday - didnt see it on fb either...? Am I blind or are you keeping it a deliberate secret?!
Morning all ,
Happy birthday Flutterby - have a lovely day hun, you deserve it!
Incredibly stressful day yesterday. Won't go into massive detail, but my brother's eldest daughter was staying with him after another massive fall out with her mother, the brother's girlfriend decides that brother is spending too much time caring for his eldest when they have a 20 month old and a 3 week old to care for too  She then kicks my eldest niece out and says my brother can follow if he wants. This is totally unlike her and I assume that her post-natal hormones have something to do with it, but if you've got an issue with your partner you don't take it out on a 14 year old, who's done nothing wrong.
Cue 14 year old niece staying with us at my Mum and Dad's this weekend, being told my her (excuse for a) mother that she's not welcome there, and my brother saying that she can't go back to his until he's sorted his gf out. I just feel so helpless (and fuming that the adults in her life have let her down AGAIN). The poor kid needs stability desperately. Yes, she's been playing up a bit the last few months, but given her formative years with her mother it's kind of to be expected.
DH and I are talking about whether we could foster her. I don't even know where to start with that. I suppose we need to get in our flat and then work out whether it's financially viable before we start thinking about the ramifications it will have on DH's daughters and our new baby!!!!!!! All we can see at the moment is that, our gorgeous niece is going to end up in the care system lost to us forever if someone doesn't act now. What do we do? Is there anything we can do?
Needless to say, my OS has been limited this weekend!
Anyway, hope everyone is ok, have a good day OS or otherwise, hugs to all xxSometimes that mountain you've been climbing is just a grain of sand,
What you've been out there searching for forever is in your hands0 -
hey Ho I'm the wrong side of 60 so you are all mere stripplings
:):) Just wandered around to the bank after dropping the grandchildren off at school and passing the charity shop I found a double book by Ken Follett who is my favourite author which I hadn't read so snaffled that to put away for my holiday at a princely sum of 50p its my bargain of the week.no food to buy this week as I am shopping from the freezer.Thoroughly enjoying Uni and am on my last essay this term. Washing on the line having a blow and all's well in my world this bright and sunny Monday morning.mind you I may feel different after my plumber arrives tomorrow morning to fix the CH but today the sun is shining and the sky is blue and hopefully winter is on the way out the door.
Cheers JackieO xx0 -
Morning all, cloudy but warm today, washing on the line 1 more load to go, dw been on
Birthday greetings, well done, congratulations, sorry to here ................................does that cover it all.
lowsey ...the poor girl , she must be so confused I looked after my niece when her mum and step dad kicked her out when she was 15. It effected her so badly that even though she had a loving home here with me and her cousins what had happened messed her head up , even today ( 11 years on) she is a mess, she goes from relationship to relationship, always with badboys I'm sure it stems from what happened .Please give her a hug from me.
Dinner tonight will be moussaka , then I'm off to see my son sing , he is part of a "boyband" and they are very good I have no idea where he gets his singing from as I cant sing for toffee;)
What ever you are up to today have a good day.:DPaul Walker , in my dreams;)0 -
Morning All
Welcome to newbies, hope all the jobs are safe and well done on all the weight losses.
Happy Birthday to Flutterby today and for Essexgirl for yesterday! :bdaycake:
Not up to speed with the thread as I have been away down south for the weekend. Had a fabulous time at my brother's surprise 50th birthday party. Saw loads of folk I've not seen for ages so had a good catch up. Particularly pleased to have got on so well with my nephew, found him difficult in the past but he has turned into a very witty charming young man. Even though it cost a small fortune for flights, etc, it was well worth it.
I have today off to recover! Going to have a very lazy day and unpack my case. Take care all, may pop back later.0 -
Beemuzed, ouch! that is going to hurt. Will it be covered by the insurance?
As for you DS's letters, get in touch with the DWP and ask them to send out new ones confirming what his benefits are. You mat have to make the call when you are visiting him and he can confirm that you can talk to them so you can explain what is needed. It also may be worth you getting a letter from him that you can send to people with him giving permission for you to do things for him.
Lowesy, your poor niece, I really feel for her. Some women really do take the biscuit. Surely his GF should realise he has another family besides theirs. He can't just drop his old family just because they have a new one. (((hugs))) to her. I hope it all works out.
Since I went out this morning the cloud has come over and it is cooler again.
Got a bargain this morning, DC3 trainers only cost me £3.99 :T so I treated myself to a new hairbrush as the handle is broken on mine, cost me the grand total of £1So I am very happy
Sat down with some soup and a coffee now and having a surf.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -

Lowesy
I am so sorry about your niece and hope things get sorted out.
Happy belated birthday and actual birthday to Flutterby and Essexgirl
:bdaycake::bdaycake:
Really nice here today, sun is out and neighbour's cherry blossom tree which overhangs drive is coming into pink blossom .
It feels as if it has been a long hard winter and I can't wait for the back of it.
DH drove me to Lidl for a shop and fridge is now full with yoghurt, sandwich stuff like cheese and cold meats , salad, veg and fruit.
Have a lamb hotpot in the oven for anyone who wants it tonight (DH and me) and making a huge salad for everyone else . Have decided that as no matter what I cook someone dislikes something that I might as well just cook what I feel like then at least me and DH and at least one DD at a time should enjoy it.
Why did no one warn me gardens eat money  - DH has got pressure washer, hoses, compost, garden feed, seed ,tiny plastic greenhouse etc. Even getting things on sale it is costing a bomb.
Poor devil has waited over 20 years for a nice garden so I can't begrudge him his excitement - he is like a big kid!!!
Fingers crossed and good vibes on way to everyone worried about their job.

Well you don't want them getting too leggy so I normally pot mine on when they are about 2.5cm above the soil. No idea of that's the right time but I tend to think when they look like they are getting a bit crowded and a bit too tall it's time to !!!!! them out.
HTH
Edited to say: I am not swearing but the word is p r i c k so clearly fall foul of the censor!
Also when you are potting them on keep them indoors, just separate them into larger pots for individual plants. Still a risk of frost until I would say end of April at least.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Tigerfeet -really reluctant to use insurance as would lose all the no-claims bonus. I do have some savings, so they'll have to take the hit this time (no pun intended!) Thanks for the very good advice re DS - he needs to just do it, doesn't he? He's reached a place where he wants everyone to do things for him, and in the end I guess they will, but I'd love to see him being proactive for once.
Well, no progress on the paperwork front yet, but I have a gleaming kitchen floor, 2 loads of washing drying, handwashing done as well, BM on, mud splashes from the dogs wiped from the walls - in fact everything except the stuff I really ought to be doing!
Had HM soup for lunch and will be turning the left over beef into a curry later on.Resolution:
