Left lane for left and straight on, right for right?

    For me in this example, unless it's posted otherwise at the roundabout, it would be left hand lane for 1st, 2nd, and possibley 3rd exit if it's a 2 lane exit on the 3rd exit. Right hand lane for 3rd exit, and for 4th exit (uturn).

    Edit: Although looking at the picture, is it certain that the left hand lane isn't a left turn (1st exit) only lane?

    We both know to whom to were referring.... It's no secret I own a C series Vectra.

    The use of passive/aggressive behaviour in order wind people up and then sit there tut tutting like some sort of saint.... It's laughable.

    Depending on the circumstances red or green routes are perfectly acceptable exit lines. Looking at the photo there doesn't appear to be any designated lane markings on the roundabout so you simply choose the most appropriate lane.At the bottom of photo the approach to the roundabout has two lanes with what appears to be an HGV with a car behind it, both in the offside lane. The roundabout has an HGV on it which the red line has been drawn through.

    If I were driving behind the HGV approaching the roundabout and intended to take exit 3 (turning right) then I would move into the nearside lane. I would anticipate that the HGV in my carriageway would be stopping for the HGV on the roundabout and I would stop alongside it. I know I can out accelerate the HGV and as soon as the HGV on the roundabout has passed I can safely pull away and be in front of the HGV and carry on around the roundabout.

    Depending upon the speed of the the HGV already on the roundabout and visibility I may well simply take the nearside lane and not have to stop for the approaching HGV and be on and off the roundabout while the HGVs are still on it.

    There are too many variables to have rigid rules. Take the lane which is the safest and most appropriate for the prevailing conditions.

    I'm sure you are going to tell me you are an advanced driver etc. but turning right from the nearside lane to overtake an HGV on a roundabout sounds a bit dangerous to me.
