will wait for the SOA with interest. I would suggest that not smoking for your daughter is the biggest motivator there isI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
0 -
Thanks Chevalier, yes this is a very big motivator, however we do not smoke in the house and not around her. I appreciate that it does still have an impact on her. However it is easier said than done. We both are planning on stopping again tomorrow. I haven't had any today.
On the subject of the SOA. I need to re-do but it's tricky as due to increasing nursery fees from July it will change again then. I have done it recently but due to changes in a few things and reduced other areas I need to sit down and re-do. Will try and get this done this afternoon.
We do have quite a significant surplus, and for the last 2 months I have managed to re-create that in real life too for a change, hence have cleared 2 debts off now.
Thanks for popping in xStaring point of debt £23,343:mad:

I have been to Lidl and snapped up 2 packs of beef mince @ 99p each on offer, pair of wellies (needed and planned - plus just £5.99 so considerably the cheapest I have seen) Plus more bacon bits as theirs are good quality and cheap, milk, 2 lots of spread for baking and sandwiches, veg oil (they are actually more expensive than Tesco but needed it), butter plus a few other bits which we did need...trying to think what they were now *goes to have a look* no that was it.
So we met some friends at the pub this avo. Kids love it as they have a small soft play area. The food is average at best and we know that so why can't I say no to eating out??? We could easily have said no to food and just had a drink but oh no - we go and blow the best part of £40 in total when we could have got away with £15 for drinks and a meal for DD.
I think it comes back to that worry of upsetting people. I didn't want the other couple who were eating to feel awkward as they wanted food. Also, I couldn't face cooking a roast and then clearing up the mess at home. Have whacked the chicken in the freezer for another day.
Feel a bit of a failure now as I am back to overstocked freezers and fridge, only £20 in my purse for the week...bad times.
Maybe if I write a list of everything I have in and start a longer term meal plan I will feel better?? No motivation now though:(
Plus side though we are giving up smoking again tomorrow. Gonna slap a patch on OH b4 bed and go for it!Staring point of debt £23,343:mad:

on the question of should you be saving whilst you have debts the key thing here is that you're budgetting not saving. If you could put aside monthly for the annual costs this will stop you landing in the mire when the annual bills come around. I've never considered my bills, car, insurance, christmas accounts as being savings accounts in the purest sense of the world it's just me being organised.0
-
sounds like your going great guns, I've done the same with DD and clothes brought wack in advance then she has growth spurts (shes 8 1/2), some gets ebayed, but half the time its too much hassle, the rest goes down to her bst mate, same age, but shes smaller, were away at easter, so was organised and did a list of what we needed, hit Peacocks and Primark for most of the clothes, then Shoe zone for muck about sandals etc, - If theres a sale rail i'm there. Best bargain was 2 prs of shorts 10p - did the trick.
xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

the positive is that you have a plus balance, and your looking at budgeting for all items, reall good base their sorted.
Try cash back sites when its insurance renewals, xmas, bday prsents, theres a lot of threads that help you save and spnd wisely, (bargaining hunting), making food hampers, gift sets etc can save a fortune.xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Loving your lists! So good to realise progress is possible and mark those achievements,

Thanks for all the posts guys. It's true that it really does spur you on to know that others are reading.
Mum2one - thanks for your advice, re; mobile contract I will try ringing them but checked online and I can't change til June 2012. I did get a PS3 as part of the contract which i sold on Ebay BN so I can't complain too much.
Gas is prob high due to the winter, hopefully I can reduce it now the heating is off.
Entertainment budget will get reduced, but tends to cover all incidentals and therefore seems to disappear. Need to keep an eye on it.
Lemon Tree - think you're right - it's not really saving, just budgeting so is a good idea. Thanks
VKA - Yes, lists are the way forward!!
Finally - we are off the fags today and I have a good feeling this time!Staring point of debt £23,343:mad:

Why have I just ordered a pizza to share with someone at work?? Why can't I say no to people?? I just didn't feel like I could because I knew she couldn't order without me. I should have left my purse at home but working so far away from home I worry in case of emergency.
Ps...I have just applied for a new job which sounded really interesting and is really local. I could even cycle!! Oh how nice that would be! Am not very qualified for it though, perhaps even over-qualified in another area. The money will be a lot less and it would be FT but still...we can only wait and find out! Am excited about this.Staring point of debt £23,343:mad:
