hi
i am a member of AA and have breakdown cover and that parts and labour addition.
My car has been driving not well for a while now.
When i had MOT/service done a coupla months ago, garage said it looks like clutch is going.
What happens is when i drive, it takes a long time to get up to 30mph, the revometer goes up and up and up and the car hardly moves.
And now, when im going up hill, its even worse, i couldnt get out of a car park, as it was uphill pathway, i had to reverse and get into 1st gear and rev really hard all the way up, 2nd gear would not allow me to push the car up the road out the car park.
so the car does work, but just this problem with driving and picking up speed, takes double time to get up to 30mph and revometer is pushing really really hard.
should i call AA and have them look at it?
or wait till it actually doesnt start up or breaks down properlly?
thankyou

What do you expect the AA to do, the clutch has nearly gone, if it gets much worse all they will do is tow you to the nearest garage.0 -

What he said!!!.... The AA will tow you home or to a garage and let you get on with it... Theres no magical cure the AA man will have.0 -
in order to have AA pay for all my repairs i need to call them to report a breakdown. But technically i have not broken down.
I cant afford a new clutch. AA cover costs me loads, with extras.0 -
They wont cover a a worn clutch plate... Check the terms&Conditions....

garage said they do, depending on what the problem is.
We dont know if it is a worn clutch you see.
can i call AA and have them look at it now, even though im not broken down and car does start and work?
its the proper procedure, call AA, they take you to garage, and they tell garage what needs doing, and AA decide if they are paying for it all. Id rather try the AA route, and if no go, pay for it myself.0 -

The AA will not pay for all your repairs, they are a breakdown company who will assist in any roadside breakdown, if it is minor and they have the part they will repair it, your clutch has nearly gone do you expect them to change it at the roadside, they will tow you home or to a garage where you will have to pay for a new clutch plus fitting.0 -

Ahh well if the garage say they do then they do;) Good luck.
Anyone tried that Clutch-Glue?.... You chuck it in the flywheel inspection hole... Rev the crackers off it for 2-3 mins and it restores clutch plate friction?.... Belting stuff:D0 -
