Bank don't take coins on specific days?

From my experience of working in a branch (not Halifax), transactions involving bags of cash would take significantly longer than notes. I wouldn't weigh multiple bags at once as I couldnt be certain that the correct amounts were in each individual bag (e.g. there could be £15 in one bag and £25 in another - since I would be handing out bags to other customers I'd want to be certain that each one contained £20) so I'd have to weigh 25 separate bags for this transaction. This would mean that the queue would build up and other customers would have to wait longer.
I would never have turned anyone away, but I can understand their thought process!:A0 -
I have nothing to add about the banks but I think it is a great idea to save her fag money this way. It is what I did when I quit and it makes a massive difference to be able to see the money building up.
It seems to give it a real feel rather then paper money or bank credit...Not sure why
But even if she wanted to just collect £500 in pound coins, so what ? Nothing odd about adults saving money in penny jars etcThere is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin, and roam the world at will.

I have been collecting coins to save for my next holiday so far I have £300 to change. That in a Supermarket would cost £24! So after reading about banks setting a limit I enquired at my local Post Office which I use to put my money into my Santander bank account, and they told me provided I was paying the coins into my account they would bank it all for me. So thats my problem solved.Low Carb High Fat is the way forward I lost 80 lbs

My local HSBC branch has a coin counting machine. Very handy - stick my First Direct debit card into it, pour in my coins (no need to bag or count them), and my account is credited with no fuss at all.
our local natwest has one of these too, it is great for my daughters piggy bank money, no need to count or separate it, just stick your card or paying in slip and pour in the coins and in to the account it goesit is fantastic

Quick update - took coins to RBS where lady behind counter told me there was no limit, proceeded to take all of my coins, weigh a few at a time, bag them and deposited them to my account. Took less than 5 minutes. Job done!
