The op said is still worked out the cheapest. How can somewhere that is the cheapest not be as good value as they're claiming to be? Do you want everything for free?

Why does it seem to be the "newbies" who are the least tolerant?

8 bags of crisps for a quid is still fantastic value when you buy them separately down the corner shop for 50p or more EACH.

Yes - and I said so. However, the fact remains they have increased by 13% in one step without actually changing the price. By coincidence, there's an article in the Sunday Times today about the issue.

Coming from someone moaning about the prices in one of the cheapest shops in the UK! :rotfl:

Yes, this is what the Times article is going on about - the increase in what they call "input" prices. They say the shops are not allowing the manufacturers to increase the retail price as it is too sensitive so the only way they (the manufacturers) can maintain profit is by reducing product size. Apparently another way of doing it with crisps is to have lighter bags in the multi-packs, which is even more difficult for the consumer to spot. At least they didn't do that with the McCoys. The multi-pack bag size is still 32g.

Sorry, my mistake. It's more like aggression than intolerance.

Tesco have pulled a fast one with their packs of bacon.

Their packs of '8 rashers' suddenly shot up in price, although plastered all over the front of the pack was 'bigger pack, better value, now contains 10 rashers'.

    Right, lovely.:T

Other than the fact that the WEIGHT of the bacon is exactly the same as before (250g) - which means they are charging more just to have sliced the 8 rashers more thinly and got 10 out of it lol

    Bit crafty of them.

Poundland has had to adapt and modify both its products and pack sizes to maintain their pound unit price. What else would you have them do? It's not as if they changed their prices when vat went up.

As for Tesco, it's not the first or last time they've pretended that they're offering extra value when they're not. The phrase caveat emptor (buyer beware) could been coined to warn customers about them

Exactly how do you suggest Poundland 'actually changes its prices???'
