i have brought the OH lots of great things harry potter dvd boxset, new mobile phone, stephen fry book ect and the best of all i've saved a fortune thanks to MSE ( bonus i get tto watch the dvds and read the book ) :money:0 -
I'm hoping for a deep fat fryer (one of those ones that look like a proper professional one) so I can make more Indian and chinese starters when I do homemade takeaway, a pasta machine so I can make more pasta and my mum is getting me a big lot of bath bomb making stuff so I can have a lush styley bath every week all nex year wihout the big price tag! Think OH's mum is also getting us a soda stream for cutting down on OH's fizzy drinks bill! This is despite the fact that she's already given us money which got spent on a "new" fridge off fleabay cos I never have enough room in the main fridge for all the cooking I do - sensing a foodie theme here, think I feed them all too well!
So all in all pretty OS Christmas all round, OH always says he feels guilty buying me cooking pressies as he thinks it looks like he's dropping hints for me to do even more cooking! But I actually like cooking and good food is very important in our house.0 -
Last year we were particularly strapped for cash, so OH and I decided to have a 'It's the Thought That Counts' Christmas. We each had to think of five gifts that we would buy for the other if money and practicalities were no object, and then find an inexpensive way of 'giving' it.
He got me a trip to see the Northern Lights, a skid pan driving experience, a luxury spa break, a big house in the country, and, er, another very lovely thing that I can't remember right now (hope he's not reading this). Each one was represented by photos on a scroll of paper, tied with ribbon, and inserted into a felt stocking from the pound shop. Total cost < £5, but it was really lovely to think what he would have got me if he could have.
In previous years we have also had Christmases where we have made a gift for each other, although typically that ends up with me getting all creative and ending up spending far more on materials than I would have spent if I'd just gone out and bought a few books or CDs or something!0 -
This year Oh and I treated ourselves to:
chicken wire
chicken feed
water and food dispensers
chipboard
and 5 chickens
I have asked for (from family members)
some cushions for my front room as I have just redecorated
Jamie oliver 30 minute meals
HFW everyday river cottage
now if someone could fit Corey Taylor in a stocking for me that would make my day!0 -
I'm getting some fabric and wadding so I can indulge in my passion for patchwork without it costing me anything.0

still debating slow cooker. Some threads have said food tastes funny as was debating a croc pot.
[/QUOTE/]
I'm afraid I agree witht hose who say the food tastes funny - I've tried and tried and tried to like slow cooker food but I just don't. I don't mind too much meat that's been cooked in one piece and then served with freshly cooked veg, but I'm still not crazy about it.
I'm not being disparaging about other people's tastes and opinions, but it's definitely worth trying to borrow a slow cooker and try it out before you buy one yourself.
Give me a Remoska and a plug-in timer switch any day!!!0 -
Nothing for me to unwrap but I'll be happy if someone offers to wash the Christmas day dishes without me 'volunteering' them! And if someone else suggested that they'd cut up the butties for Christmas tea that'd be the icing on the cake.0

I've asked for the River Cottage Hedgerow book, about foraging.0

I went to a big-name hobby store last week with a friend, as she was looking for some craft items to make Christmas cards. She was making 30 and the total for her items came to £50
I'm hoping for a breadmaker or a sewing machine, and I also cut out the 'subscribe to' bit out of Cross Stiching Gold and gave it to the OH

Yes - I'd like a trailer load of manure for my vegetable patch.
And a nice helpful little elf to come and spread it for me.0
