as you may notice if you are a local there are no signs or line stating no parking and also no raised kerb and still with my bike there there was oceans of room for passers by. am i stupidly in the wrong here or do i have a leg to stand on?????

hope to hear from you lot,

You are 100% clear as you don't owe them a penny if this is a private parking ticket. If it was, what is the name of the parking company?
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
  • the name of the company is TPS parking solutions. private for sure, well i hope. the guy handing out the tickets was wondering around on his mobile......very professional!

    thanks for you response :)

Yep TPS are private parking company (PPC for short) scammers like all the rest. They send the registered keeper scary letters using 'debt collector' and/or 'solicitor' headed notepaper which you must just ignore as they are empty threats.

Did you really think you had a 'fine'?? You have NOT!

Read up on a few threads, even if not about 'your' private parking company, they are relevant to you if they are about ANY PPC:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...play.php?f=163

You need to read the (usually top) thread first, 'PPC letters, what to expect' and see that this whole thing is a mail scam and that the registered keeper of the car will receive some scary letters! You must ignore them, I know it goes against the grain but you must ignore the whole scam. Just check out that thread, TPS and their letter chain are on there in the first post so you can see what will come next.

Also make sure you click on 'Welcome, please read before posting' (hahahaha, the irony of having to link that thread almost every time!). Read the info about PPCs there and click on the must-see paper aeroplane Watchdog link. The solicitor telling Anne Robinson about the fake PCN scam is an expert in the field.

    HTH
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Thanks so much for your help - I have received one of these tickets recently and have decided to ignore!
My husband had borrowed my car, and he actually works for an IT company and was doing some work on site at a unit in a shopping centre. they snapped my car in, and said on the 'enforecement notice' that it had been there from 9.32am to 16.13pm - however they failed to mention that he was only there for half an hour in the morning, then left to go to another site (which he can prove) and then arrived back at 3pm for more work!
I was all ready to fight this (as i had rather stupidly tried to call them in my panic this morning after getting the horrible sounding second letter saying my fine had gone up and if i didnt respond they would take it to court!) but luckily i decided to google this subject first (i was looking for template appeal letters!!)
I would just like to say thanks so much for putting this stuff out there - the stuff about credit ratings and debt collection is very scary, especially as I have just had a baby and am at home on my own during the days, it plays on your fears and it should not be allowed!
I will take all your advice and ignore, but expect I will come back when I start getting the solicitors letters and I will need re-assurance!
    Thanks, thanks and thanks.
  • hey all,

had my first thretogram today but just going to keep it filed away.

again thanks to everybody for all your advice.

    cheers
