Saw it at the weekend, not gory or particualy sexy but very very violent. Also I can't imagine that an 8 year old would be that interested in the story of this one TBH, I'm 31 & couldn't see it had much story to link the violent actions sequences together! Great stunts & Daniel Craig looked fab but that's about all it had going for it IMHO.

    HTH;)

  • OH took DD (11)-she is nealy 12 to see it and she enjoyed it. I think it does depend on the child, but OH said he did cringe a couple of times-especially when JB was tortured:eek:

OH said he wouldnt of taken an 8yr old to see it though.

  • I Take My Child (9)to See The Odd 12a Its Up To Each Person ,i Dont Think Films Etc Have Any Effect On Those Who Watch ...there Will Always Be The Odd Person Who Takes It All To Serious As With Everything Its A Film You See More Violence On Sky News , The Dukes Of Hazzard Was 12a Hardly Disturbing

probably because Bond is a product that sells well in all parts of the World and particularly in places where violence is far more acceptable than sex on screen.

    Sorry I don't understand this.
Do you mean my son enjoyed for the above reason or it wasn't as overtly sexual because of the above? Or was it me thinking is wasn't too violent?

Sorry if I have missed the point

Yes, I would have said a 15 rating, personally. It all depends on what you deem to be suitable for children. Some parents may think hardcore pornography is inoffensive, and some may shield their children from the evil and violent game of chess.

Personally, there was nothing in it that shocked me or that I hadn't seen before, and I wouldn't worry about taking my children to see it (having said that, I don't actually have any), but I'd say probably not until they were around 12. There's the usual fighting, and some blood, but not anything particularly offensive.

I wouldnt take a child under 12 to see it.
There is swearing which doesnt really bother me as kids hear it all over the place but there are scenes that I flinched at....... the drowning one got me the worst.

I'm not a bond fan but this is really good; however only for adults.

saw it last night, don't remember the swearing apart from Judy dench swearing, which i only remember as it is not something i associate with Judy Dench.

The violence is much more realistic and violent than james bond films have been before, and I though the middle section in the casino was really boring. Very different than what one would expect from James Bond

My work colleagues daughter is 13 and she has a vast horror collection and has been watching them since a young age.

He is trying to get a pirate copy of Saw 3 for her as she has seen the other 2!!!

I must be getting old, as I disapprove of this! Not only does he want to get an illegal copy but show it to a 13 year old! Didn't 4 ambulances get called to cinema's in it's openning week due to people not coping with watching it?

    great role model!

Mind you if I was 13 it would probably wanted to watch it too!

I went with my 12 year old cousin and I think she was too young :
    a) to understand the plot (as was I - v confused!!)
    b) too many dead bodies
    c) painful to watch torture scene...

I'd say 13/14 is probably ok, depending on their level of maturity - my cousin is quite young for her age.

  • i'm usually the prudish type and have ranted about my son's friends before now - being allowed to play san andreas/watch torchwood/see little britain

but he was taken to see casino royale and i didn't think there would be a problem, he's ten. i suppose this is because we used to suffer james bond on TV when i were a lass, and it wasn't scary or sexy, just dull.

as for if he was too young i can't say - he fell asleep because he was bored. he's never fallen asleep in the cinema before, not even during star wars films. he says the car was nice, and can he go back to see the santa clause 3 because he saw a poster for it. bless, ten years old is still quite young really.

i shall have words with my dad and see if it was unsuitable for him. but even if it was okay for my sweet and naive ten year old that doesn't necessarily mean it's okay for an 8 year old.

i'm still in shock that his mates watch torchwood. prude hat firmly on.
