Casino Royale Film: Suitability for Children?

  • Violent but not particulary gory but I still wouldn't take an 8 yr old to see it, especially not the bit when Bond is getting tortured.
2p off is still 2p off!
  • I agree!
We went on sunday and while it is a brilliant film it is not something I would take my 9 yr old daughter to see.
Recommend it to all grown ups though!
I hated going to weddings. All the grandmas would poke me saying "You're next". They stopped when I started doing it to them at funerals :p

My work colleagues daughter is 13 and she has a vast horror collection and has been watching them since a young age.

He is trying to get a pirate copy of Saw 3 for her as she has seen the other 2!!!

I think that is a disgrace and not something to brag about.
  • Anyway, I have seen the film and I do not think it would be suitable for an 8 year old.

    Yep.

I used to sneak and watch horror videos when i was a little kid when parents were out, but they were the likes of Halloween, Elm Street. But Saw 3???!!!! i'm 33 and found the movie disturbing, no idea what impact that would have on a 13 yeal old!

Kids will always do what you try to protect them from it is part of growing up but the very fact that you used to “sneak” shows that your parents did not approve and so cared about you and what you were being exposed to. If a parent does not care to the point where they actively encourage underage film viewing, smoking, drinking and/or sex how will a child ever feel secure?

You are not the parent so not the bragger.
  • I heard that the 12A came about when Spiderman came out, and was given a 12 certificate. So many parents complained that the censors said well in that case it is up to the parent but we don't think it's suitable.
My children have never seen a film under the age they should be, except the first Pirates of the Caribbean(12a) which they saw on DVD rather than the cinema after I'd seen it first.

My son (20) was it last night and when I aksed him what he thought of it, he said he doesn't know how it got 12A rating. He thought 12 is too young and 15 would be better.

There are mild sexual scenes, violence, scenes where James Bond nearly dies and torture scenes where he is naked (unfortunately you don't see everything!).
There were quite young children in the cinema when I went (about 10 yrs old?) and I thought at the time it wasn't suitable for them and was surprised they were there.
Definitely should be a 15 cert. Don't take him.
