Just to put my 2pence in... I'm the owner of 34G's and I know that for tops and dresses a like, the fabric has to compensate by going out before it comes down, so not only will it make the dress even shorter, it'll make her look like she's wearing a tent. Pretty dress, and could work for a wedding, but for a body shape with big boobs... don't think the dress is suited for it.
Agreed.
I'm 20 and i really do not think a dress like that is suitable for a wedding. I see people wear outfits like that to the club.
OP maybe you could suggest some more suitable dresses?
You said she has a big bust... i am 95% sure this dress would not look all that good on her anyway0 -
i have to say i think thats way too short to wear for a wedding, to be honest while i agree it isnt your place to say what she can/cant wear i can understand why you have on opinion and other people have said it wont suit her anyway, just forget about it and let her get on with it...and also tell your OH if he doesnt want your opinion he shouldnt email you links lolHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

Without entering into the debate about whether the dress is appropriate or not, I just though that I would mention that when she tries it on, she may end up sending it back. I'm a 34gg and know that I could never wear something like as it doesn't come in at the waist and would make me look pregnant.
NB Just realised that others have said the same...I really don't think you need to worry about her wearing this dress. She will change her mind once she has tried it on!0 -
I agree that her boobs might not be best flattered by it, with the high neckline, and that they may also ake it seem shorter, and ruin the line at the bottom, BUT can't be guaranteed until she tries it. I have big boobs, and sometimes these tunicy styles, with the right bra, are actually suprisingly good.
I think its a beautiful dress, and though I've been accused of being prudish and oldfashioned about wedding attire on these boards I think its rather chic, and if the young woman has good legs ad its accessorised with restraint could be extremely chic outfit. I don't think its wildly inappropriate for a wedding at all. Short...yes....but decent...it compensated by being well covered elsewhere. I wish I still had the legs for it.
I think its worth ordering and trying it on and getting her to sit down and see how that works for her....if its short she might be more easily convinced about the tights...thin of comfort sitting on a scratchy or uncomfortable chair bare legged. I'd buy her some very modest plain coloured knickers just in case if she goes with the dress and it is short on her.0 -
OP - who appointed you as the fashion police?
You say in your first post thatthat dress looks like it would just cover her knickers!
A number of posters have made the point that the model in the link is 5' 10" and have asked how tall your step-daughter is but you have (so far) not replied.
The link states that a size 10 "side neck to hem measures: 85cm/33.5in".
On me that is about 3 inches above my knee - which certainly would more than 'just cover my knickers'.
OK, it might not be the most flattering dress for your step-daughter's shape given that she has a large bust (is she really 'about a 36ggg' or are you exaggerating? Is there really a size 36ggg even?) but she is just at the age where she is finding her own style - and you seem to be prepared to stomp all over her for lack of taste.
Maybe she will decide against it when she tries it on, but you might find that the alternative she chooses doesn't please you either - and that wouldn't be any of your business either.0 -
I have a feeling she wants to show off her legs to take the attention away from just how big her boobs are!
why not offer to take her shopping, just you and her, and she can also try on the clothes and you can both see how it looks rather than order from the internet.0 -

From the awful way the OP writes about her step-daughter, I can't see them having the friendly relationship that would involve a 'girly' shopping trip.
If the step-daughter saw this post and recognised herself, I'm sure she would be really upset at what her step-mum has said on a public forum.
If I were her mother, I'd be bloody furious that my ex's partner would be so 'up-her-own a**e' to write such denigrating things about my daughter and her dress sense.0 -
It could be so very much worse..

Having a large bust myself high necklines aren't at all flattering: they make you look very matronly. However, it's unlikely to be as short as on the model, and she may change her mind once she tries it on.
Ultimately though it's up to her Mother or Father to step in if they feel it's innappropriate, not you."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0 -
I think it looks lovely, I wouldn't be upset with someone wearing it to my wedding.
Remember she is only 16 and can easily pull off this dressTurning our clutter to top up our house deposit: £3000/£303.05 we're on our way!0 -
That dress is actually very mature and I am very surprised a 16 yr old would pick a dress that covers the whole upstairs area and something so classic in colour and shape.
Also agree that it looks shorter on the model - but even then, she is 16 yr old and that is fashion nowadays for teenagers. Much shorter actually, which I wouldn't let my teenager out in, but this would be probably just about at the border of what I would allow. However me being 168cm (normal height) from my experience this will come somewhere like 3 inches above my knees! I constantly order dressed/skirts from M&S for work which go just on knees on the model and end up with dress going 3 inches below them.
I also think that it is very likely that DSD will return it once she tries it on - my best friend is well equiped in the chest area and always orders dressed that are unsuitable and sends them back - she hasn't learned still even though she is 28.
P.S. And I am very surprised by the OPs outburst when not everyone agreed immediately!! The risk of the forum I am affraid - don't ask for opinion if you don't want it when it differs to yours!0
