sorry its your fault you have had 6 weeks to apply got no one to blame but yourself for leaving it so late.

i applied on day 1, its not logoc fault that people were late, i am sorry but it is unfair to extend the deadline when others have filled in their applications way ahead of time.

Did you actually bother to read my post above before you dived in?

For the record, the extra hour made no difference I could still not login to buy tickets. It seems to be that the system was not processing registrations- I got the email confirmation, activated the account but could never login. So no chance of tickets for me.:(
I managed to register and select tickets, no problem in the extended hour.

    Yes

    1. A mistake that should never have happened borne out of people not doing their job properly.

lets be clear, this situation arose not out of the London Olympic Games Organization Committees incompetency but by people again waiting until the last possible moment to apply for tickets. That is the real reason for the problem, yes albeit computer systems are prone to crashing, but people in this modern consumer age recognize that things like this will be hugely subscribed to, you and many others should have realized this, after all that's why they allowed 6 weeks for people to apply, they tried to avoid this situation.

    2. An easy way of rectifying said mistake (extending the deadline) which wasn't taken because they couldn't be bothered and helping the fans was the last thing on their minds.

No because it was not fair on people like me who applied on day 1, properly adhering the the deadlines why should now someone who was able to take advantage of this extra hour to get their tickets even be allowed them in the first place a deadline should have stood regardless of the server problem its not fair on those who have been applying during the 6 weeks. Again its your fault you applied late on in what Seb Coe called the "Marathon."

A metaphor for how sport is run in this country.

No indeed its a metaphor for people's lack of foresight when purchasing tickets for things in this country, leave it late, blame it on the company and be up in arms when they could not smell the coffee.

"I use websites that get millions of hits and huge spikes in traffic (not least a site like this) that never crash and where there can never can be any expectation that they might crash. It is the year 2011, like I say, not 2000."

Sorry did no one tell you that this is the greatest sporting show on earth, they were probably experiencing some of the greatest internet traffic to a single site in uk history.

All in people made the mistake in applying late, its unfortunate but for the rest of us who were applying early to avoid this situation happening were vindicated in doing so. I am sorry you had problems but its time to stop blaming others and take a look at our own purchasing behavior.

Also there will be by all accounts a second round of sales to come.

Interesting news item here now that the olympic ticket application process is closed:

    http://www.breakingtravelnews.com/news/article/millions-bid-for-london-2012-olympic-tickets/

Apparently 1.8 million people applied for 20 million tickets

The opening ceremony is more than 10 times oversubscribed - so only 10% of people applying will get those tickets

Fingers crossed for those of us who applied!
