I think the balot idea is very fair and reasonable. There are also some very good value tickets too.

However, charging you in the middle of May and not telling you which tickets you have been allocated until June is absolutely bonkers.

I suspect there will be a lot of unauthorised overdrafts in May.

Agreed, It should be done so that we receive an email saying "congrats" showing us what we have been allocated and have to respond within a week or so to pay?

I've just realised its possible there will be no money in my account as rent goes out mid may... and tickets will be paid for "between may 10th and June 10th"

But then, we are brits, we have to do it a tad barmy

  • Does anyone know what would happen if you were allocated tickets but then moved house before 2012? The only information that I can find is in the terms and conditions which state:
    • "Tickets will be delivered via secure carrier to the billing address of the Purchaser. Tickets will not be delivered to any other address. A signature may be required upon receipt. Post Office boxes (or similar) are not an acceptable addresses for the delivery of Tickets."
and a short sentence buried in "payment and charges" which states:
    • All tickets will be delivered in summer 2012.
I live in a rented house and its reasonably likely that we will move in 6 months time - i.e. I won't have access to any mail sent to my current billing address in a year's time. I would love to apply but this is really putting me off at the moment as I don't want to apply for tickets if I won't be able to receive them!

Any more info would be great if anyone has any.

    Thanks

Common sense would say they would check your current billing address just as they send out the tickets.

If you are lucky enough to get some tickets you will know in may- june 2011 which will give you a year to set up a redirection service from the royal mail. for 2012 delivery.

Common sense yes... doesn't explicitly mention it though so I'm loath to assume that they have any!

Thanks ghanagirl, but does mail redirection still work on secure delivery? I assumed it wouldn't but if it does then we always set one up when we move anyway.

I'm surprised that so many of you are itching to get your fingers on tickets.
Perhaps if i lived in London i'd go, lets face it it's going to be a once in a lifetime experience, but for the people who'll need to factor in the cost of travel and inflated hotel accommodation it's going to be an expensive day out.
I think i'll be watching on the telly.
Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
