There are some things you should consider:

What did the T-Mobile person mean by the mobile internet signal begin non-existent? Its the same signal as used for voice and texts. So how many bars does your handset show? Are you receiving 3G, is it turned on in your settings?

Is your handset all set up for data? It would be embarrassing to return to phones for you, only to find your settings are incorrect or you've turned off data.

It has to go back to Phones4U anyway due to the battery problem (either battery of handset).

From todays telephone conversation with T-Mobile, they stated there is no mobile internet in my postcoded area, and no 3G in that postcoded area. My phone shows no bars.

    Todays update and whats happened.

T-Mobile - I contacted T-Mobile this morning to try and get them to confirm in an email to me regarding what they said yesterday about the service in my area. They skipped the issue and made me go into settings and try changing the settings for internet. We did this, not much helped. Finally they informed me to go into a T-Mobile store and check the sim card. I was going into town anyway as I needed to go to Phones4U. I did go onto the T-Mobile website, checked area for service and printed off the screen which had the relevant info I needed. Not brilliant for service that's for sure.

Went into a T-Mobile store and checked the sim card. It worked fine on another Desire HD handset, including service and internet. So no problem with the sim. When I asked if any other customers had inquired about the HTC Desires HD (or range) poor battery/or battery issues he just said "They are all like that. They're supposed to be like that" . . . . I'm no expert, but that sounds like utter garbage to me. Buy a HTC, as long as you charge the unit up 3 or 4 times a day. So they should include that in the sales talk from now on.

Phones4U - Went into the store, explained the situation. They swapped the battery for another new battery and asked that I give that a try. Explained the T-Mobile service. Told them I was not happy and feel I was mis-sold the package. They spoke with T-Mobile and gave me a Orange Booster signal (due to the T-Mobile/Orange mast share) and told me to try that for a couple of days. I'm giving them 24 hours.

I'm still not that happy with the outcome.

I got my new phone from Phones4u (iphone) on Sunday and was told that they do not have the 14 day cooling off period. I was dreading turning my phone on due to having had an iphone on Orange for almost a year and the signal was non existent. I would not recommend T mobile/Orange to anyone as their network checker online is wrong!

Good luck, I hope you get it sorted.

    Hi Jonno,
The T mobile policy only allows you to cancel within 7 days due to coverage ...be sure that they are not stalling you to get past the 7 day deadline

Please don't say that as today was the 7th day. I was not even made aware of that.

If thats the case to be on the safe side i would email them and say you wish to cancel ..that way if you change your mind on wed you can tell them.....meanwhile you will be covered within the 7 day period.

This depends on the usage. With the screen permanently on I wouldn't expect the battery to last for more than 2-2.5 hours.

Can I do that? I had the package with Phones4U, handset and T-Mobile contract.

Yes although I would email both parties to cover yourself ...thats providing you can't get back to the shop today as obviously that would be the best bet ;)

If I read that right, if I email both T-Mobile to cancel the service and Phones4U to cancel the package service (which is T-Mobile) I would then need to go into the shop to get another network provider within that package rate (which is £25 per month at present, incl phone). That will cover me? I am just worried it may back fire and cause problems.
