The Tesco Price Check Terms and Conditions
Price Check Comparisons- Price comparisons for in-store purchases are based on what the customer actually buys. This includes price reductions and promotions (such as "half price" and "buy one get one free") but not store or category wide promotions such as “buy 6 bottles of wine and get 5% off” or linksave promotions (such as "buy cheese and get crackers free"). These are excluded as it is difficult to make fair comparisons. Products that are purchased on a "reduced to clear" basis will be compared at the price paid at till.
- Price comparisons for orders made online are based on what the customer received and paid for.
- Price data used for the Tesco Price Check is obtained from daily web scans of the Asda Home Shopping site.
- If prices are found to be different across the website postcodes sampled, we have used the most commonly occurring price.
- All comparable grocery shopping is included in the Tesco Price Check (see paragraphs 6 and 7 below).
- Only branded grocery products that are identical or very similar own label grocery equivalents are included and compared. For own label products to be included we have tried to ensure the equivalent own label product meets the same needs or is intended for the same purpose.
- For example, we may:
- Identify the key characteristics of the products including flavour, and whether it is organic, Fairtrade, low fat, or eco-friendly ensuring that they are not matched in a way that gives any retailer an artificial advantage.
- Where products differ in size, weight or volume, ensure that this difference does not favour one retailer over another.
- Compare goods where there is no more than a 10% difference in size, weight, or volume.
- The Tesco Price Check is made against comparable grocery shopping only, as defined above. It does not include any non-grocery categories whether available in store or online or any in store concessions.
- Only grocery products that are sold on Asda’s Home Shopping site are included and compared against in the Tesco Price Check.
- The Tesco Price Check website will be updated with Asda prices on a daily basis for customers to check their receipts against.
- Where the item is not available for comparison on the Asda Home Shopping site, the product is shown as 'not available' (N/A).
- All prices obtained for Asda are believed to be correct. On rare occasions however, due to the number of prices being checked, there may be some inaccuracies.
- For a comparison to be made, your shop must contain at least 1 comparable grocery product.
- The difference in price shown between the comparable grocery products in your shopping at Tesco and the equivalent shopping at Asda will be the total price for all comparable products in the basket.
- Only Tesco Extra, Superstore and Metro formats are included. Products purchased in an Express, Petrol Filling Station or Homeplus store are not included in the Tesco Price Check.
- Valid email addresses are required so that we can inform you of the results of the comparison. Tesco are not liable for an incorrect entry of email addresses.
- Customers should receive details of comparison results by email within 36 hours.
- Claims can only be made online via the website http://www.tesco.com/pricecheck.
- Claims must be made within 28 days of purchase (for in store purchases), or within 28 days of the date of delivery, if bought online.
- Price Check vouchers can be redeemed either in store or against an online Grocery order, irrespective of whether the original purchase was made in store or online.
- To use your vouchers in store, vouchers must be presented together with your original receipt and can be redeemed off the cost of your next shop at the checkouts. You must retain your original receipt as vouchers are not valid without the original receipt. Photocopied receipts will not be accepted.
- The number of claims is limited to 10 per calendar month per household and the total amount that can be claimed is limited to £100 per calendar month per household.
- Vouchers must be used within 28 days of date of issue.
- Vouchers can only be redeemed against transactions of an equal or higher value than the voucher.
- Only one Price Check voucher may be redeemed per transaction. Price Check vouchers cannot be redeemed against purchases of petrol, lottery, tobacco, infant formula, caf!, pharmacy, gift cards and mobile phone top up.
- Vouchers have no cash value. No change will be given. Copied, damaged or defaced vouchers will not be accepted. This voucher is and shall remain the property of Tesco Stores Limited and is not for resale or publication.
- We have the right to withdraw the Tesco Price Check at any time without notice.
- Where we suspect that any false or fraudulent claim is being made, we reserve the right to withhold and/or refuse payment.
- Tesco employees are entitled to use this service. All price comparisons will be made after your Privilegecard discount has been applied (if used).

If the voucher has already been printed out then it has to be honoured...0

I've complained to the ASA - keeping it about the fact that they're retroactively changing vouchers.Never let your sucesses go to your head and never let your failures go to your heart.:beer:0

Right just spoke to consumer direct who advised I ring Tesco again and say the terms and consitions I agreed to where yesterdays when I purchased the goods and entered the receipt and request they honour them! If not to send a registered letter with copy of receipt and email and give them an appropriate deadline to give me my voucher! She is going to inform trading standards!
We need to find out what time the T&C were changed "William" a manger on the customer services phone number said that they were changed at 10am yesterday.0 -
PREVIOUS T&CI still have the page open from checking the terms and conditions earlier today, have a load of paper at the ready in my printer, not sure how much ink..... How many copies shall I print off, once I close the page it will come back up with new terms, I am having to be sooooo careful.
Should I Ebay copies of them to make some money back where i'm not getting dtd?
  :mad:0 -
Just spoken to one of the customer services managers who assures me that, having checked with their legal team, T*sco are
" perfectly within their rights to retrospectively change their terms and conditions as their original terms and conditions say they can change them at any time without notice".
I pointed out that my e-mail, received today says, "we are giving you a voucher for double the difference of £35.13" (ie I'm expecting £70.26), the voucher attached was only for £20 - surely having committed in writing to a voucher for a certain value they can't then give you less? Not so, says the manager, they can and have changed the terms and conditions so, effectively, tough sh*t!
I am livid but don't know if there's anything I can do other than fume quietly to myself. Grrrrrrrr :mad::mad::mad:0 -
if i return my wine, i there anything stopping me using the £20 DTD they have sent me, i know this was frowned upon before but they have screwed us over!0

- The number of Price Check requests is limited to 10 per calendar month per household and the total amount of Price Check Vouchers that can be claimed is limited to £100 per calendar month per household.
