  • I now have a conundrum....

I have bought wine, some of which will be used as gifts but I'm going to need bottle bags. The problem is I feel that there is something wrong with spending more on a bottle bag than the actual bottle itself! Any ideas welcomed...

They can trace it back to you, if you shop and use a voucher, your dtd will then be linked with your receipt, you spend the dtd and it is linked with the next receipt and so forth, which can be linked with cctv which could lead to a ban - best case scenario, prosecution worst. To be honest if your all going to be dishonest and break the terms then I can't see why they bother doing this promotion, the people who feel that the terms do not apply to them are going to be why this is pulled.

Rubbish, point me in the direction of a law that says if you breach their terms you're committing a crime absolute cobblers. WORST case scenario they could go for a private prosecution and even then unless you'd spanked them for 1000's it'd not be worth it. Any judge would look at it and ask tesco why they didn't enforce their own rules at the checkout, after that point providing the voucher is valid there's not a damn thing they can do.

You took the goods to checkout
    They gave you a price
You made an offer to pay
    They accepted

That hardly seems fair, if i bought a bottle of baileys (for a present) but my OH had bought one too, i woudnt think twice about returning the one i had bought expecting a refund!!

I don't think its fair either - and I can't see how they are getting away with it. I was under the impression that Tesco state in their advertising stuff that they will refund nearly everything (with the exception of chilled, frozen, and some entertainment stuff etc) if it is returned with a month with the receipt.

They can't "police" it. Their T&C's are not law (not a contract between you and Tesco), they are just marketing promotion guidelines, and it is up to them to stick to their T&C's (and you don't have to). You are not signing/agreeing to any contracts and not breaking any laws when recycling vouchers.

But by not sticking to the T&Cs you forfeit your entry into said promotion!

Agreed. In fact, you don't even know how much the voucher's going to be until you receive it.

Savvybunny - are you suggesting that the buyer should keep a tally, and not use a DTD voucher if it goes over the £100 limit? Nonsense. Tesco have clearly agreed to it, by providing the voucher.

Which they would need to enforce at the checkout before accepting payment after that it's a done deal

    Hi,
just wondered if anyone could answer a question..
If i were to do a shop tomorrow evening say 6pm, would they match the prices agianst asdas prices from 6pm or their new prices (as i know they change around middnight on a monday)?
    Many thanks..

They would compare prices from your receipt to ASDA's Monday prices.

I think most do, not sure if you saw i replying to somebody else who said their store only offered exchanges.

Not if they have previously informed you that you cannot participate!

Then you are deliberately going against this.

I dont condone going over the £100 limit, because as rightly pointed out this offer will get pulled for everyone, but i wouldnt of thought they could trace you through the vouchers, whats to say your email address asnt been used by someone else for example, and what could they prosecute you for??? Surely the onus is on the shop staff on the tills to say the till is showing youve reached your limit. Imnot sure but if the bar codes are all the same the only way they could get you is through you club card, credit card
