I see no reason why anyone would sound their horn for a potential incident they're not involved in

If you'd been stuck behind a cyclist who gets to an island and crosses it while your forced to wait for it to clear, then maybe you'd honk too? ;)

In which case it would be using the horn in an aggressive manner.
Not denying I'd do it, but it's not a potential accident I'm trying to prevent.

I could also argue that the code also doesn't state that "except when another road user poses a danger to you". In which case you the horn should not have been sounded.

The same rule also states "Never sound your horn aggressively" but of course you never do that.:A

Seriously, you'd happily sit in your car, in Tesco's, and watch someone back into the car next to you, and you wouldn't sound your horn because they weren't backing into you?

    Happily? no.
But I wouldn't sound my horn.
I'm not saying I wouldn't record the details of the driver who bumped the other one, and I'd happily be a witness for the driver whose car was bumped.

But I wouldn't sound my horn.

    You've got me there.
I can't think of an answer to that.

    :)

Exactly... And Im beginning to think this is what the OP actually did.
It comes down to frustration of being held up by a cyclist.

    More than likely you're correct.
Cyclist gets through the junction but prevents the OP driving behind so the OP sounds horn in annoyance.

And of course it's cyclists who get held up by drivers far more than cyclists hold up drivers.

Erm... what's that got to do with anything? If it's a random observation, maybe I can add a few of my own?

    • Drivers who don't have adequate visibility because of their illegally tinted windows aren't thick at all... they are just pratts.
    • Dog owners who don't pick up their dog's turds because they think no one can see them aren't thick at all... they are just pratts.
    • Lawyers who defend people knowing that they're guilty aren't thick at all... they are just pratts.

Gosh, I could go on all day... :rotfl:
