Cyclists are thick !

I was following a road cyclist, female, recreational sports not commuter and as we were coming up to a mini roundabout stayed behind, she was moving quite fast ! At the roundabout a car with priority was coming from the right. Needless to say the cyclist just rode straight onto the roundabout. I hit the horn, the car hit his brakes as the cyclist took a short cut over the centre of the MR. As she went she looked over her shoulder as if to say "what are you hooting me for ?"

The worst thing you can do is sound your horn at a cyclist, it startles them,
thats why accidents are caused.
Just curious, why did you hit your horn. Presumably the other motorist saw
the cyclist and hit his brakes.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

It would probably be many drivers instinct to hit their horn if they thought somebody was about to be hit by a car.:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

I hit the horn because the road entry was at an angle and obscured by a keep left sign, the cyclist was probably behind the drivers line of sight. I suppose I could have taken the view that it would be better to leave the cyclist to their fate rather than startle them. You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! Good grief, you're right! For years I've been ignorant as to how stupid ALL cyclists are, but your one anecdote proves it beyond any reasonable doubt.
You know, I once heard of a theoretical physicist who drove a car. Case closed, as far as I'm concerned - car drivers are geniuses.0 -
No not all cyclists are thick, they are a pain but i dont encounter ones who are thick, i encounter more idiotic drivers(again not all drivers are thick as 2 short planks) who arent the sharpest tool in the box0

You should never sound your horn at cyclists, or to warn other motorists of them.
Darwinism should take precedence.0 -

Don't understand why you hit the horn...... Would you do that if it had been a car? no of course not!
IMO you were just looking for an excuse to have a go at this cyclist...... Unless you have any more to add that may vindicate you?“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Poor road sense?....sounds like it.
thick? maybe ...but thick people can make good drivers and I've known many clever people who are rubbish drivers.
I could give you an example of any vehicle you choose performing a silly manouevre and then level that accusation that all those drivers are thick....whether it's BMW/vans/yellow cars/rear wheel drives/drivers following cyclists pumping their horn for no reason.
And I too wonder why you sounded your horn....the rules of the road are that the horn is to be used to warn others of your presence....so when the cyclist entered the roundabout you decided to warn her that you were behind and distract her from the road ahead?
Pointless post in my opinion.
