Which is best Condenser Boiler to buy?

I thought I would add to this thread rather than starting anew...
We're planning to get a new combi fitted in the next few months. Our Ferolli is at least 10yrs old (here when we moved into the property last year) and has started requiring frequent resets ( 2-3 times per week) and occasionally has trouble starting up (every 3 months or so).
Anyway.......our boiler is situated in our floor void/cellar which means that we don't need anything that looks particularly pretty.
Does this broaden our scope any?
btw it's a 4 bed house with just one bathroom.

First time joining in - so please forgive any errors of use . . . I am trying to work out the best replacement for a Potterton Suprima 50 (11 or so years old, PCB changed in 2002, starting to lock out again), and have been "offered" a Vaillant ecoTec Plus 415 or a Baxi Solo 15 HE, at roughly comparable prices. The thing I am trying to decide is whether there is a need to have carpets, floorboards etc up to fit a boiler overrun lead. The Potterton did not (as far as I can gather) have one, so there is no wire available to be re-used. The Baxi does not need one, and the Vaillant does - apparently ! Does anyone have any advice on this aspect of fitting a new boiler ? The wire run would be around 7 metres, from boiler (downstairs) to Cylinder (upstairs) . . .0

Our 18 year old Worcester combi has broken down and I am going to replace it as I suspect it is now at the stage where repairs are going to become a regular thing. At around £300 a pop it doesn't take many repairs until you could have had a new boiler.
My research indicates that the Vaillant boilers are the best ones to go for with Worcester Bosch a close second.
Quote from British Gas came in at £2,900 for a Vaillant (28kw) but a local company can do it for £2,050 and only £1,680 for an Ideal - but I am aware of their reputation!:A0 -

I fitted one last week ,
Vaillant eco tec 28
Powerflush
Magnabooster
all for £1600.
The boiler only costs about a grand ,shop around and look on the internet for boiler prices ,that way you will get an idea of what you are getting.
£1680 for an ideal boiler sounds a lot to me.X British Gas engineer and X BG sales adviser.

Just a little note, I have in my current house a Vaillant boiler, and it only now that it needs replacing. My gas engineer said it it built without plastic parts and the best sort of boiler you can buy. It is an amazing 25 years old and built like a tank inside. My next boiler will also be a Vaillant.0

The Potterton in my house dates from the 1970s, it is also built like a tank. However, I don't think it really gives any useful indication of the build quality or potential reliability of current Potterton products.0 -
