Joint Account with ex partner (merged)

I believe that I have been overcharged on my old Lloyds TSB account. However, their lousy service meant that I closed my account with them. Does this mean that I will be unable to claim from them?
Furthermore, the account was a joint one. If the bank refunds the money, will it be split between my ex and me by the bank, or will I receive all the money, as the one making the claim, and have to give him half? I only ask because we are going through a sticky divorce, and his solicitors are desperately grabbing for cash.
Would a claim, or even just a request for the last six years' information on the bank's charges, on the joint account also require his permission or signature?0 -
Usually it is ok for one person to claim from a joint account but I am unsure of how they will send the cheque out. They may send it with both names on the cheque. It depends on what type of joint acc it was(ie did it require both of you to sign if you wanted to withdraw money.
If they send the cheque with just your name then its a moral issue as to whether you tell your ex or not!"He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,
He will kill your cat and nail him to the door"

Hi,
In a previous relationship, I had a joint account and there were some charges against this account.
Would I be able to claim half these charges, leaving the other account holder to claim their half independently?
Or would I need to make a joint claim for all of the money, bearing in mind that the relationship ended a tad acrimiously?

I recently found an old folder of bills/statements from when I house-shared with two other people in 2000/1 and saw that we had overdraft charges from HSBC amounting to about £100. The account has been closed since 2001 and I am not sure how to find the other two people. Can I still make a claim for the charges to be refunded?
Thanks in advance
Apologies if this has been asked/answered elsewhere. GG0 -
My ex and I were divorced 2 years ago, the financial nightmare was unbearable. I want to reclaim the bank charges from our joint current account (and various other financial organisations that robbed us blind during the process) and i know that my ex wants to aswell but as we no longer bank together can we still claim? I don't want to fork out money (a tenner is still a tenner after all) only to be told that anything we are entitled to claim will be paid out in joint names... am a bit stuck so any tips, advice or experiences that can help will be sooooo appreciated0

Yes you can claim against closed accounts. Ours was a joint closed account and I claimed against it myself, my OH didnt have to sign anything. They took my signature away!!!!0

Hi, I am new here so apolgies if this has been covered before. My partner and I split and I changed the shared bank account that we had, timing issues occured and a dd was presented to the account but there were no Funds. My partner has been collecting his mail (the account was in his name with me added later) and they have charged £30.00 a month. The debt has gone to £230! Can I challenge these charges? Any help would be appreciated. THanks for listening!0
