I have calimed in the same ecenario and the account is now my sole responsibilty _ I claimed back no problemsMama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0 -
I have a couple of joint banks that I had accounts with my ex-husband, a current account and a mortgage account with TSB but i no longer have any account numbers to request the charge information.
Is there a template letter for requesting unknown bank account numbers?
Can i do a 2 in 1 letter along with one £10 cheque providing our details (names and addresses etc) for account information and requesting the statements at the same time? or should i do them seperately?
Also i have re-married so also have different surname to the ex should i just send a copy of the marriage certificate or the original?
any information would be greatfully received.0 -
you will need to send the normal DPA letter but inc some ID to provide that it is the real person
IE
marriage certificate
bank statement
just form of id and if you have moved since then list the addresses inc your DOB.0 -

If 1 or more accounts are with the same bank then one request and one £10 cheque will suffice.0 -

Can you still claim bank charges on an old joint account? I am no longer with my now ex husband, however, when we were together he ran up huge debts  . Am I entitled to claim back the charges on the joint account?0

Yes you are as long as you are a signatory on the account.the way forward is the consumer action group .co.uk0 -
I would like to reclaim charges from an account that used to be joint with my ex-partner and is currently under his name only. He has agreed to do it even though he is probably £2000 ovedraft but I am not sure if I should sent 2 separate letters for both periods.
thanks0 -
I'd send one letter for the entire period and come to some arrangement with your ex about what portion of the end result he is going to want. It's easy to work out in the respect that once you get your statement of charges you will be able to see the dates, but when working the amount out with him, you will have to take into consideration that you might not get the full amount back.
Forgot to mention another thing to watch out for.....if successfull, they will probably pay the amount into his bank account, if his overdraft is unauthorised...you could lose the lot0
