One thing I would say though - if we can't keep track of these comps when they are in a specific place for regular comps how on earth can we keep track of them if/when monthlies/some monthlies start being posted each and every month? (not a dig, a genuine question to consider)

One request aswell - if someone finds the time/inclination to compare the sticky to the threads and finds some missing rather than it being they are dupes or expired could you please post the links on the sticky. Two birds one stone kinda thing

The Stickys link to comps both on the Regs board and in the Main forum.

I checked how many threads and comps were on each board separately by using advanced search, and disabling searching the other comps forums. I checked on the page and thread counts, plus the earliest thread date by using the display options at the bottom of each forum.

Using Search on the main board atm, shows up;

23 Monthlys

27 Weeklys

118 Dailys

As these are posted with their End Dates, you can't select to find them via Display Options.

Another good reason for using the E: 99/99 (Ongoing) is that it will let you use the display option and see all the ongoing comps together if they were on main. Which is important as you can only get a maximum 300 threads returned when you run a search. Reposting every day/week/month would undoubtedly mean a few would slip off out of sight I feel, and also lead to people who bookmark reg comps having a good chance of duping entries.

It doesn't surprise me that not all comps are in the Stickys, as they depend on members letting the Sticky OPs know about any comps. All the Stickys have started after the first comp threads were started, and any that just were just moved over to the board, would only have got added to the Sticky if the relevant OP was told/pm'd.

This is yet another reason for sorting out complete guidelines for board as a whole and not in fractured parts. To get Regs posted properly, it would be helpful to be able to gently remind Comp Ops of posting guidelines and not expect them to be psychic... To be able to use search/display options we need consistent use of agreed E: format and Title Tags.

This is our ideal chance to do this, lets be positive and grab it with both hands.

Likewise - I only go through the sticky, not the individual threads.

I didn't think about those originally posted on main but moved to regs. This could have caused both reg/reg dupes or non-entry in the sticky. A quick sample of recent new regs threads shows some do not also have a message on the end of the sticky - but maybe a PM was sent, or the sticky maintainer has picked them up anyway because the ones I found without a message are in the sticky. Anyway - 90 to be found when time allows.

I made an effort to go through the entire board, when I started to do Regs, just before Xmas, after years of not bothering to there, as there were pleanty of comps on Main for me. It took a few hours, similair to End of Month and I bookmarked any that interested me into folders. Now I just depend on the stickys.

It does call into Q even more whether we need them posted in a seperate forum, or if we are better off reorganising ourselves and making an effort to ensure that in future comps are posted and linked correctly to stickys.

I thought of 2 guidelines I have completely missed off, but can't think how to word it - so would appreciate a few suggestions please. Its the rules about no Self Promotion .... and No asking for Votes except in the (?) Voting Thread...

I think this means even more than 90 aren't on the sticky then? If theres 317 on regs and 23 on main and only 227 on the sticky?

I'm not suprised some aren't on the sticky but I am suprised at exactly how many are not on there. That's (very) roughly 1/3 of the threads added to the regulars board not added to the sticky (assuming they are all unique and active of course).

And I totally agree with you that we should be sorting it out and not just go back to the way it was before, even with the tweaks I said were essential if we did that....that was just to make a point
But I don't think the comment about grabbing it with both hands was aimed at me because I've never said anything other than we should get this right now we have the chance I'm really hoping we can get some clarity here even if it's not exactly the set of rules I would prefer

Oh Befffff, my Grabbing it comment, wasn't aimed at anyone in particular, and most def not at you.

It was just a silly way for me to try and put into words the fact that I feel this is a chance for us to all pull together, and try and draw up some guidelines that will work for the BGs and MSE plus let all styles of Compers enter comps - whether they are End Date, Start Date, New Thread, etc compers...

Thanks Mazmie. I thought not but you can never tell I think all the hassle on here has made me paranoid lol.

Don't worry I'm not upset at all. Just phrasing things even worse than normal (who would have thought that was possible :rotfl:)

A quick note on the missing competitions,

I have only just realised that it was required to link on the stickies (Daily in my case for Cokezone) the posts with end dates I had posted on the main board - I did not post them in regular competitions, as I thought they were to go on the main board with links.

Alot of posters may not be aware of this (Or dont have/(want to take) the time to make double posts - thread and link) and therefore may suggest that is why posts are missing from the sticky lists.

I may still even be wrong, and they should have gone in regs. Very confusing

im sory im with dalkirst pn this one. This row has come up out of nothing. The board was working as well as it could given the sheer size of it now.

Once the can had been opened, people are now demanding all sorts of different boards, sub boards etc... i think the way it is running with regs being any 'regular' (ie daily/weekly/monthly) without an end date works well.

it seems the people moaning about missing out on regular comps are the ones who dont go on the reg board. All i can say is click one more link and you are taken to the reg board. Its not a secret place, just clicking one more link doesnt stop you being able to enter them.

Mainly i feel that the people who want everything on the main board are a bit lazy not wanting to click on that board.

If the majority think that and that's what we do could you & dalkirst (and the other BGs - just named you as you have both commented specifically about it) merge any regular comps that are already on regs and then get duped to main "so more people can see them". And also tell anyone that moans than it's just an extra click. Which it is.

They may accept it better if it comes from one of you
