Why do I let him do this to me :(

Tell your dad that you can't have kids due to a faulty gene that you have inherited from him. Tell him too, that's probably why you are an only child.
That should shut him up!

Freak? Heck no. So you don't want children? You may change your mind in the future and you may not. But ultimately its YOUR mind to do what you want with!
You need to really stand up to your dad on this one. Even if its raised voices now, "That's enough!" No chatting, trying to explain. Now you need to really tell him. He is being very selfish and now its affecting your Mum, he is taking this too far.0 -
Celyn....
Hit the nail on the head!!
I also get it from OH's mum, his sis wont have kids, his brother has 3 boys and wont have anymore so apparently it's up to me have a little girl... and call her Britney!!
You're right that I need to be more forceful with my dad, i've just kind of ignored and said that he can class my cat as a grandkid!!! But I think I will have to say something serious because it's really annoying me and my OH too.

Well i'm pretty sure this would work!!!0 -
Hi,
I reckon you should tell your dad 'once and for all' that what you and your husband decide is your business. And that you are not there to provide him with a grandchild!
Tell him that you have no doubt that if you dictated to him what he and your mum should do he would probably tell you where to get off!
And what the hecks this business about putting pressure on your mum to help look after a grandchild. I wonder if he'd be so keen to have a grandchild if he was the one doing the looking after!
Tell him you have no desire for children, that doesn't make you a freak by the way. It makes you a responsible person. There's too many kids brought into the world that are not truly wanted.
You may change your mind in time, but if you don't - that's your business. Good luck0 -
Tell 'em all you're trying and it just ain't happening..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -
i have two kids and love them more than anything but i can really understand how it's not for everyone.
tell your dad that if he doesn't lay off, you won't be seeing him anymore. direct is always better with people like this. alternatively, start hounding him for a sibling, lol xx0 -
Tell him you dont want any kids, because you wont to put all your efforts into looking after him in his old age

Dont let anyone make you feel bad about not having children.
My ex husband was russian and I was pressured all the time by my ex mil to have children. She rang up once and suggested to my then husband that she didn't believe we were choosing not to have kids. She was sure there was a fertility problem. The last straw came when she said I was to fall pregnant to prove to the family I could and if I still didn't want the baby then abort it. !!!!!! the woman was and is a headcase, what an absurd thing to suggest.
I should have walked away at that stage. 3 years later I had children with my ex and now 8 years on I am a lone parent. Family life wasn't for my ex he decided.
I wouldn't be without my children just wish the circumstances were better for us all0 -
I think I'd be inclined to tell dad I'd decided on to have kids as you didn't want him as a grandad!
(but then I'm really 'orrible!)Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!
