  • I made a broccoli soup at the weekend, and it'll work just as well with cauliflower. I added crumbled stilton before serving - really lifted the flavour. Take your pick of recipes from a Google search.

    You could make this;-
Use puff pastry and cut out a 2 circles about 10-15 cm across, cut a hole in one of them egg wash the other and put the one with a hole in ontop ( just realised i could have said make a big vol au vont !!!)and cook
Make a cheese sauce with the stilton and pour over cooked broccoli then pile it into the pastry case.
Sprinkle some crispy fried bacon bits ontop if you like

You can basically use it in any recipe requiring cheese and, if it really is that strong, it will give you twice the flavour for half the quantity.

I'd forgotten about the mushrooms. Get the really big, open ones, just crumble some of the Stilton into the cup and grill them. Simplicity itself and perfect with a nice steak.

I'd suggest celery and Stilton soup. IMHO, its the only good thing to do with a bunch of celery.

How about using it to make savoury biscuits? http://www.channel4.com/food/recipes/baking/biscuits/blue-cheese-biscuits-with-poppy-seeds--recipe_p_1.html I make a recipe like this from Domestic Goddess and it's always worked out really well - not too strong, just subtly blue and really nice served with wine or as a cocktail nibble!

Also, if you happen to have a shop bought pizza, (we had a LIDL's mozzarella one) sprinkle some stilton over it before cooking, adds flavour.

Spooky. Guess what I found on the bargain shelves in ASDA last night? A pack of two big open mushrooms with cheese (albeit not Stilton) and garlic filling for just 68p.

As above, one of them was perfect with one of the two little Irish steaks (£1.30-something each) I also got last night. The others will, no doubt, be equally perfect together tonight.

Mash with a little cream and pile onto hot toast that has been spread with a little chutney or pickle. Grill and enjoy. A great way to use up christmas leftovers. My OH who is a meat eater sometimes puts a slice of ham on first.
