They destroy jobs on a much larger scale.
They make the profits locally and export them to the shareholders. Money is taken out of the system and given to share funds.
What about the 10000+ local Tesco staff who benefit from many share schemes and put that money back into local economy?0 -

There are 8500 Tesco employees. Not all will be getting share incentives. A few hundred quid a year from 8500 in nothing compared to the millions given to intuitional shareholder through dividends. Warren Buffet is a major Tesco shareholder; I doubt he spends much of his money down in Castlereagh.
It’s worth pointing out Tesco had total sales of £1.2 Billion in Northern Ireland, I don't know the profit figure but it could be a considerable amount of money leaving the local economy.
That's a lot of local shops losing out, a lot of lost jobs.0 -

That will be a black day. Which is fitting, considering the number of blackout days I've had that started there.0 -

one thing i can assure you is that it certainly has not stalled, the steel work is all but completed now, and to answer the petrol station question, no there wont be one, not even a DOT COM going in to it. Remember it is a replacement for Connswater. ETA for opening end of October.0 -
Anyone know when and where they will be advertising Jobs for this storeNorn Iron Club No:468
Converted serious saver:D0 -
all jobs at the moment will be given to the existing staff members of tesco connswater, any staff they then need will be advertised on the jobs centre website and you will be told of the recruitment centre on were to to pick up your application, but they probably will not go out till mid august. hope that helps.
and for everyone who wants to know, Tesco is not moving out of connswater as bar the rumours within the company, they are downsizing the store to metro size all because asda wanted there unit.0
