I have just made these with 75g of shreddies (should be hoovering the lounge :rotfl:) and they are fantastic!

    Many thanks to OP
  • The mixture was a bit stiff, so I added an extra egg. The uncooked mixture is delicious, too! (The eggs were very fresh, so don't worry about salmolla! I always did it when I was little and it never did me any harm).

    These are gorgeous,

I only had a swiss roll tin rather than square one but just bumped up the flour, sugar & marg to 6 oz each, used 6 weetabix instead of 4 & added another tbsp of cocoa powder & used the largest egg I had. The amount of chocolate used was the same as some 'fell' into my mouth ;)

    Turned out perfectly :j

    Hi narabanekeater,

I have added your post to the main weetabix brownie thread where you should be able to find the recipe.

Hi, I've just made these brownies with a couple of adjustments to the original recipe (Thanks Jaxx :) ) and thought that someone might find it helpful, also thought that the recipe deserved a bump! :) Scrumptious!
I used chocolate weetabix, bought while on special at Home Bargains 12 for 99p. Instead of cocoa I had Twinnings swiss chocolate drink (another half price bargain at 99p a tub) so used that, reducing the sugar to 3 and a half ounces. Lidl's Bellarom dark chocolate (74% cocoa so really chocolately) and I also added a handful of toasted sunflower seeds to make it 'healthy'...what?:o;)
I found it to be like a flapjack consistency (didn't read the thread until after I'd made it) so pressed it into a swiss roll tin as I usually use that for flapjacks. I used a 180 degree oven (fan) and found that it was still soft after 15 mins so gave it a couple more minutes with the oven switched off. It does firm up on cooling and I marked it into 16 fingers and left to cool (just!)
I'll probably add another egg or a slug of oil next time, but they were really lovely and I reckon quite a bargain bake. Haven't worked out the cost, but they are worth it anyway!
I'm wondering what other ingredients people have had success with? I'm sure that there'll be a lot of tried and tested variations out there! That's what I love about using recipes from here you know that they've been well tested. Thanks everyone.:T

Thanks again Jaxxy. The last ones were polished off by visiting family yesterday, so yes, they keep if you hide them well enough! ;):rotfl:
Of course they want the recipe now and I'm thinking of trying a few variations so watch this space. I'm hoping to remind all of the Weetabix brownie fans out there for their suggestions. Tips for reducing the calorie count would be helpful... :o:) (I'm thinking about trying flavoured chocolate options next time, instead of the cocoa powder and reducing the sugar... without sacrificing yummyness of course!) Maybe I should just leave well alone...

  • I've made several variations on the Weetabox brownies theme. I just can't help myself meddling with tried and trusted recipes. All sorts: drinking chocolate/cocoa powder ratios depending on availability, chopped milk, plain or white chocolate, added chopped nuts of different kinds, even used those chocolate sprinkles the Dutch are so fond of putting on bread. The recipe has never failed me yet.
  • does anyone know if the brownies can be made without eggs i would love to be able to make some at any time but i only buy eggs when i'm making muffins or birthday cake so never seem to have any when everyone feels like a munch tia
