Hi all,
I was lead to believe that I needed option 2 for my broadband use - to enable me to receive broadand. I have been paying for that for years.
I know....I should of checked.
Well I don't need it at all - I have been paying for something that I don't need - for years.
I am hacked off about it as I really feel the wool has been pulled over my eyes & think I will go to Trading Standards as to complain to BT is like slowly sticking a sharp stick in your eye.
Please check you are on the right option plan for your needs all.

Option 2 gives you 40 Gb data cap, whereas Option 1 is only 10Gb.
It all seems fairly clear on the website.
However being BT it ain't cheap.
IIWY I'd go onto Samknows exchange search and see if there is a cheaper LLU ISP.
PS Some moneysavers have reported success in getting their bills reduced with a little haggling. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Thanks but I've heard so many scarey tales about other BB providers.
I have had it for years & am not techie. Before getting BB I phoned up BT & was bambozzled with techie language. Apparently I have only been using 0.2Gb - whatever that is.
I don't download music, films etc.
I feel raw about this.0 -
The word is ignorant not raw . Ignorant of the service you are buying ignorant of your needs .
Its not techie its plain and simple if you do something use something you should be aware of what you are doing .
Trading Standards will tell you the same you made the choice how on earth is an ISP expected to know your use Tesco dont know your shopping list .

(me that is)
There's only one thing in your post I'd disagree with....
If you shop there and use their clubcard Tesco probably know more about your shopping habits than you do yourself. They could probably hazard a good guess what internet package you need tooTesco don't know your shopping list

If you feel that BT have been conning you (which isn't actually the case-you just failed to check what you actually needed), then get your MAC and vote with your feet, rather than wasting the time of TS. They're not going to be able to help you at all with this.
Switching ISP's is not 'teccy', it take maybe 30 minutes to research and sign up for the switch online-you don't need to call up BT or anyone else.No free lunch, and no free laptop

So true, I remember when I first registered on the website and was presented with a list of all my recent purchases, handy for the shopping list mind.
Maybe James May's man lab should include a broadband tutorial. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

I know. Thing is the engineers are really great guys here but they too have to go through the call centre system.
I'm scared to use another supplier incase stuff goes wrong - live in the middle of nowhere & I've heard bad stuff about Virgin & others - so what do you do?0 -
The engineers are exactly the same regardless of whatever ISP you use. They're all Openreach staff, so it makes no difference.
If you live in the middle of nowhere then it's unlikely that VM cable would be an option for you anyway. No free lunch, and no free laptop
