Good Morning every one well I was up with the larks this morning as it is my DGD Katies 18th birthday I got round there at 7.45 a.m. in time for her present giving My DD bless her had managed to get her a lovely bracelet and her and her OH have also given her some cash which will come in very handy for her as she is still at college until June. I did the school run with the boys, then a college trip with my youngest DGD (Katies boyfriend was coming to pick her up with her present) They both go to the same college. Then I went to drop off some books at the Uni library and just hung a line of washing out
Shortly I will be going on a hunt for some '18' birthday balloons and will take them with her cake to the restaraunt for tonights meal. DD and I both said we are not looking forward to seeing her ex but we will smile nicely and put up with him for Katie's sake. Once I have dropped of the cake and ballons I am coming back home to put my feet up for a bit and just do some knitting .
taplady your right my pal is one in a million bless her,she is the one I am going on holiday with to nr Tenbury in April so I will be treating her when we get there to some nice days out I think.
Hugs to all those with worries about their jobs, it must be awful to be so uncertain about your future. As someone who is retired at least I can't get the sack I suppose. We are living in tough times I think ,but we will get through it and come out the other side.
I can remember when the mortgage rate went up to 15% and I thought our house was at risk because the payments went through the roof, but somehow it got paid.I think this recession will make a lot of folk realise whats important in their lives and cut back on a lot of things.I was at Maidstone the other day looking around the shops and although folk are looking there are very few people buying much at all. One of my neighbours works in a local supermarket and she says people are cutting back down on what they used to spend and are far more careful with their buying.
Having been fairly frugal for most of my life I can understand why folk are thinking twice about spending.I jst feel for folk with families I know how hard it can be for some especially if you are reliant on an extra wage to help out. Prioritising your needs as opposed to your wants will be the future way for a lot of people.
Well the sun is shining at the moment and my washing is blowing well so I think I shall go off to the card factory to try and get my balloons for tonight .
have a good day everyone and try not to worry ,in ten years time you will be fretting about something else I expect .We all worry far too much today at my age I take every day as a bonus :rotfl::rotfl:
 Cheers chums

JulieG you look amazing well done on your hard work and willpower.
bitsy b I know what you mean ,but this reccession has really hit a lot of folk for 6 as they maybe can't remember how bad things got in the 1970s/80s.When the leading firms that were high street names Woolies ect took a walloping and went under I think it has brought it home to a lot of people that the country as a whole is flat broke and we have all been guily of over extending ourselves.I know after the bad times in the 1970s I swore I would never get into a position where my very roof was in danger of vanishing .I had lots of friends who lost their homes then and found life very difficult afterwards.Talking to people locally the concensus is that belt tighening isn't an option, but a very real thing. In Kent even the street lights are being turned off after a certain time to try and save a bit of cash and on the M2 motorway the lights go out after midnight. I was at Bluewater a little while ago and was talking to one of the lasses in John lewis and she said the only time they really get many people in is maybe late night shopping on a Thursday night or sometimes on Saturdays. This is one of the major shopping areas in Kent and when you can walk around with hardly any other people during the day these big shops are finding it hard to keep open I don't think a month goes by without one of the many shops there just giving up and closing down. This is in a supposedly affluent area of the south east. Where I live in Rainham there are a plethora of charity shops for a very small area indeed. In the tiny presinct there are two big ones that have taken over from traders who just have not been able to trade anymore. For every shop that closes there are families who have no income anymore and their hopes and dreams have gone forever leaving them with debts that will take them years to pay off.Its so sad With all the out of town shops now our High Street will vanish and we will become more and more like the U.S with shopping malls every half a mile .0

            Afternoon all
Still suffering here, but feel a bit more alive after a shower. My mum thinks that there could be a link between the vertigo and the abscess. I'm actually in a very small way looking forward to dentist just so I hopefully get anti-biotics and sort it out so I look normal! Though I doubt it will be in time for Sat pm
OS wise - WM is going on shortly, and didn't put BM yesterday so may do that later.
I'm going to attempt to eat some HM soup - I think it's spicy butternut squash, I never label them when I freeze :rotfl:.
JulieG - wow you look fab well done you well done you
