Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday 10th March. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread.

Is anyone still here? Just wondering as we're getting blown away (N Yorks!). Been awake most of the night listening to the wind and rain and finally decided that it was time to get up. Not surprised that no one else is up - hope you've not all been blown away.

OHHHH ********************* just remembered that loose tile on the garage roof, which will no doubt have been blown off down onto the car on the drive - so there will be a huge dent / broken windscreen I imagine. oh flipping heck  Just because the insurance company took so long to pay out :mad::mad::eek:

On to nicer things!!!! Have joined the Lenten challenge thread - giving up chocolate and alcohol and taking up decluttering and cleaning and being nicer to people - including the kids. You may know that this can be an issue sometimes as DS1 is ASD and behaviour / concentration etc is an issue. :( Never mind, today I will hit the ground running and clear through the house - including their rooms. I need to make nice neat piles of the jumble and things to ebay. Put away the papers that I need to keep, and put the rest on the fire. Think where I've gone wrong in the past is I've tried to clean and clear on the same day, so I end up with a clean house, but with all the clutter in one room - which I now can't get into :o:eek::o. So today I will concentrate on clearing the clutter.

I will also dive to the bottom of the freezer and make a good list of what we have. Goodness knows what combination of food we'll have tonight, but we'll have something. Must be more MSE :money:Have a great day everyone. Mustn't come back as otherwise I spend all day on the 'puter and no time tidying!

Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Morning esmf & all who cross/follow
I hope there isn't too much weather damage to your property.
Off to work soon, it's meant to be mild & overcast here, but it's too dark to tell yet.
Best make a start on hubby's breakfast, have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning Everyone!

Been AWOL for a couple of weeks. DS was poorly last week, work has been busy.

Life has been an adjustment (what with the new diet being implemented) I think this has been taking up most my time!

Today is work (3 weeks, 2 days to go!) then this evening I am having Wholewheat Pizza, and the boys are having Pesto Pasta. Then DS has cubs, while DH and I do the weekly shopping!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning esmf, Hester, JulieG and all to follow,
Mild and grey here but I think wet and windy is to come :( I have lots of bedding to wash, but want to be able to hang it out.

I must have a good go at the house today. I tend to attempt clearing and cleaning at the same time as well esmf. I must get some quality de-cluttering done ( although I have been saying that for ages!!!)

No particular food plans today. Just me and DH so we will start the attack on the freezer meal overload. I would like to get it down to a manageable number which will take a few weeks.

Hugs to all who need or want.
Happy Thursday peeps, cheers Silver x

Sistercas I do hope your job is safe. Fingers crossed and prayers. It is horrible when you know it is being decided but you don't know who. It has happened to us several times in the last 10 years. Best wishes x

    Morning all

Hope not too much damage from the wind and that jobs will be safe.

Wet and windy here now. Got to get up and get ready for work in a minute.........should have been last day before going to see DD and her DH but have to go and visit a couple of students' workplaces before we go on Tues. :( If I don't it will be a bit of a rush when I come back....never a good time to go away is there! DH has taken tomorrow as holiday(he doesn't work on Mondays) so that's him finished.

Chicken for tea with barbeque sauce. Need to do a bit of ironing and vacuuming when I get home at about 2.00 (sigh). But the good news is the leftover cottage pie from last night will be mine all mine! :rotfl:

Oh well off to have a shower and feed Dollycat.

    Have a good day everyone.

Dry, bright but blustery here this morning. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Everyone else here is up, had brekkie, showered and dressed, boys just now finishing off getting bags ready etc.

Dinner last night was chicken portions, mash, brussels, carrots, broccolli, stuffing, yorkshires and gravy - thought I'd make a roast-type meal as had all the ingredients in and yorkshires were some I'd made and frozen so nice to have a roast meal mid week - especially as Mon and Tues were quick meals due to being busy. Not sure what we will be having tonight, I have to organise that today.

Will be going off to the dentist shortly, not looking forward to that as having some treatment, I'll just make sure he numbs me well before he starts!

Will be putting another load out on the line shortly and another load in also will be putting a few bits in DW. If I feel up to it after the dentist, I need to do all the usual chores, housework, tackle the ironing mountain, menu plan, do shopping list. Will also be fitting in some baking/cooking, also need to complete census form that arrived yesterday.

Best get myself into gear then!

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Good morning

Busy day here for me. Took DH to work, got the dr to ring for an appointment today, and take DS4 to school (and that's all before 9am).

Might do a bit of tidying up today, but really want to get down the allotment while the weather is nice here today. At the moment it is breezy but sunny, the best morning all week.

Hope all is ok with your job sistercas. I work for our county council, and had to go into work a month or so ago to find out if I was losing my job in this round of cuts. Fortunately I didn't, and my team is safe for the next year, until the next round of harder cuts is announced! However, it made a hard 4 or 5 weeks waiting to find out if, who, when etc.

Hope all have a good day - I'm still trying to eek out pennies to keep family of 4 in food this week, (and next it seems). I seem to be running out of essentials that I have had stored for ages. I still don't have an oven so that is making life difficult too as it limits what I cook. I have remembered how to use the microwave to make cakes though - not done that for years and years.

    Morning all

I ended up going to the hospital to see the out of hours doctor at 3am this morning as the swelling got worse  Drove myself there with no problems. She said it's nothing medical so must be dental. Problem is I'm petrified of dentist, and am not registered with one :o. My own silly fault. So am sitting here now waiting for local ones to open to try get emergency appointment :(

Not feeling very sociable so will go now and report back later
