  • I had to run in for a McWee with my 2 year old the other day, and ended up buying her a bag of carrot sticks (they sell fruit and veg in there now!) I was getting glared at by the staff as its not a particularly busy McDonalds and I've never been in there before... so I searched the menu for something that I could give my little girl!

There is an Italian restaurant next door the the McDonalds and they are lovely in there, they always let us in for a wee :)

TO be honest, I kind of agree with the manager. I think if everyone went in there to use the loo, the ques to the loo would be as long as the ques to the food counters....well probably not that extreme lol, but you know what I mean I hope :)
HOWEVER, saying this, with my kids, if they were that desperate, then I would politely go and ASK the assistant/manager if we could use the loo quickly and explain a 4 year olds bladder control (my son is also 4yrs).
Most are fully prepared to let you go if you ask them. It's polite.

I've worked in public sectors such as food retail and pubs, and 9 out of 10 times the managers and employees moan about people just walking in for the loo and walking back out buying nothing, although they would always say that if they were asked, then of course they'd let them.

I remember one bloke coming in, bought a pint of lager, then went to the loo's and walked off back out. He bought it just so that he could use the loo, and for £3 pint, that's an expensive toilet break lol. But the owner said, if he'd had asked, then she would have allowed it.

Not all places are like this though. Some may say NO :(
 Thank you to everyone!

Toilets for paying customers is a fair policy otherwise too many people would take advantage of it and some of them leave it really nasty!

Because paying customers automatically have good bathroom hygiene?!? :rotfl:

Dominos is not nearly as busy as most McDonalds though. ;)
I don't know about that. On a Friday/Saturday night, some are absolutely heaving! Probably quieter than the average McDonalds at other times though.

Anyway have a look at this link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-12405259

    Feb 2011, Statement from McDonalds:

There's a bit more ambivalence at most High Street names. But McDonald's sounds promising.

"Strictly speaking, the toilet facilities are for McDonald's customers only," a spokeswoman says. "However, the restaurant manager is unlikely to take exception to potential customers using the toilet unless it's felt that the use of the facilities by non-customers is hindering paying customers at any given time."
McDonald's have always been seen as a major public toilet provider, particularly in the US, notes Prof Greed.

So it's down to manager discretion. If it wasn't busy, maybe write a letter to HQ stating your a regular customer and were offended and you no longer feel that the place is friendly and welcoming hence you won't be spending any money there again.

That's the problem big chains have. Most of us are customers of theirs at some time in our lives, if not on that occasion, so they don't want to offend people by being unhelpful and turning people away as they're less likely to come back and spend money in the future.

I have IBS, and as there are practically no public toilets in the centre of Bristol, I use shops all the time! I'd like to see anyone try and stop me actually, because when I need to go, I need to go. I once had to run into Burger King and I made it to the cubicle with literally seconds to spare or I would have cacked my pants.

If I was desperate for the loo,or with a child who was, I am afraid,I WOULD go in,the member of staff might go flying, but I would go..

So can I come and use your bathroom if passing and need the loo?

Not sure what you mean by WOULD, what if they told you no? WOULD you force your way past?

Before eating or drinking at any food outlet. I like to wash my hands- if loo area is dodgy. :eek:I would not buy food from their shop/resturant :rotfl:

BHS started doing this too, and refusing to let people use the toilet unless they showed a receipt. Personally, I prefer to pee before eating or shopping...

I think it's fair enough wanting only customers to use the toilets, but personally I think the definition of "customer" is anyone who shops there on a regular basis, not necessarily on that day, and any decent shop ought to take the gamble that the person is indeed a customer.

If you stop someone using the toilet because they haven't bought something on that particular day, then if they are a regular customer, they risk losing custom.

    ps - mcdonalds for a 4 year old?![/QUOTE]

I do get so fed up with the sanctimonious food police brigade!

So what if someone wants to take their child for a treat once a week. It's no-one else's business.

You WOULD probably get banned from that establishment then or better yet you WOULD possibly get arrested for assault.
