    I do mine with a piece of wood, two hardboard triangles, and a marker pen

    Good luck with that mikey!

    I am a bit OCD about having the alignment spot-on, nothing drives me up the wall more than an off centre steering wheel or a car that pulls to the left or right.

    I too use the same method, no need to go to the tyre shop and no ignorant nerds to deal with. Sorry, that's a generalisation, but sadly true.:(

    Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

    Ha ha I'm a bit posher than that .. 2 aluminum tubes, one slides inside the other ... and a pen :T

    Had a mate with a garage and used to get him to check afterwards, always spot on:)

    Wouldn't suspension wear of that magnitude be picked up at MOT time?

    That's the beauty of doing it yourself. You can also check the rack is in the middle, rather than just the steering wheel. Then you adjust it correctly so the wheel is bang on centre as well, and if the tracking is right, it won't pull to the left or right. None of mine have yet.

    I reckon mines better than that. 3 bits of timber glued and screwed to form a U shape, woodscrew through the upright at the centre height of the rims to give adjustment. Easily laid over under the sump to check from back centre to front centre;)

    If it was a camber wear or damage issue it would be unlikely to have exactly the same abnormal wear on each tyre don't you think?

  • Call Hometyre. I have an inherent distrust of the fast fit brigade following a similar experience with tyre wear and having paid for my car to be 'tracked' by the blue and yellow peril. My local technician carries out a proper inspection adjusting rear wheels as well as front and has given me a proper insight into the geometry of my vehicle. Best thing though is that it is always performed right in front of me with full explanation and very visual alterations.

    I was once booked in at a place in Tupton that you might know Bri, the one on the A61 and after half a dozen technicians ignored me for 5 minutes, I came home without having it done as they couldn't(be bothered to) convert the metric settings I wanted into the imperial settings their machine was in.I pointed out its not rocket science and even offered to convert it for them but they couldn't be ar**d.
