I applied online, no email from them about opening the account.

Shall wait and see, though sat on 1.98% at the minute.

Yep same here. I also have the Flexible ISA issue 2 from last year so I thought it would be quick.

I did however select 'Mrs' on the application form last year (I'm a Mr!) and had to go into a branch to show ID to have it changed - which apparently it was. However I received a letter from them a few weeks ago addressing me as 'Mrs' still so maybe that's where there might be problems!

    quick question regarding this isa
i would be funding on a monthly basis and also as and when i have spare cash however i dont want to set up a DD so is this possible ?
also is it monthly or annual interest, the blurb on the website doesnt make it clear?

I imagine you could pay in via cheque or BACS whenever you feel like it.

From their site: " Interest is calculated daily and paid each year after close of business on 1st March."

    Their fact sheet: http://www.santander.co.uk/csgs/Satellite?appID=abbey.internet.Abbeycom&c=DocumentoGS&canal=CABBEYCOM&cid=1237887163421&empr=Abbeycom&leng=en_GB&pagename=Abbeycom%2FDocumentoGS%2FDocumentoGSPreview

I applied online on 24/03/11. Didn't receive an acknowledgement email, so I contacted them on 30/03/11. They responded yesterday (05/04/11) at 15.10pm, helpfully pointing out that if I wanted to open it for the 2010/11 tax year, that I'd have to go to a branch that day!

Thankfully, it's this tax year I'm interested in, so I'm going to visit a branch with my ID and deposit either today or tomorrow :)

Thanks for the info. I also want the account for this tax-year. I guess I'll have to wait for a few more days :(

  • I signed up to the Santander Flexible ISA 3 in February, in FY 10/11, and have been paying money in monthly vias BACS

As the interest rate is fixed for 12 months - does the ISA just continue in 11/12 and I can keep adding to it up to the £5,340?

Also, what happens to the interest I earned? I.e. I think I got around £10 of interest, does that go into this year's ISA as part of my allowance? Or is it separate? (i.e. do they send me a cheque)?

    Many thanks

You can add this year's subscriptions into the same account if you wish, remember that the £5,430 from today's date will be in addition to any balance currently in the account from your 2010/11 allowance plus accrued interest.

The accrued interest is nothing to do with your 2011/12 allowance - that's the whole point of Cash ISAs, that they can go on earning interest on interest and subscriptions tax free year after year.

Santander seem to have changed the method of opening a Loyalty Flexible ISA. Last month people were able to open one over the phone (as mentioned by at least 2 poeple on here) however the website now says to visit the branch.

I've just phoned them and they confirmed that the Loyalty Flexible ISA can only be opened at a local branch :(

Do you know if you have to make an appointment? I'm guessing you probably do.

Not necessarily, although they will always see people who have appointments before those who don't. If you can avoid busy times - around lunchtimes, and Saturdays - then it should be OK to just wander in.

I know that santander wont allow isa transfers is there anything stopping me closing my old one putting the cash into my current account then transferring that into santanders isa.
