Hi all
I had the same problem, I rented a rug doctor to clean my rug in my lounge. A day after I cleaned it my living room stunk like cat pee (never had a cat) it stressed me out so badly as I rented a second rug doctor to do it again and the smell just got worse. I ended up having to throw my £150 rug and my base carpet also stank by this point. I was so frustrated as I have ocd with cleaning anyway and I felt like my flat was ruined. Any way I put the heating on every night to try and dry it out. I also bought 3 tubs of neutradol the pink one and sprinkled that all over my carpet. I left it overnight to sink in with the heating on and vaccumed up the next morning and the smell has completely gone. I think it's just a case of waiting for it to throughly dry and freshen it with neutradol. It smells lovely in my living room now and although I'm sad I lost my gorgeous rug I'm just so happy my carpets don't smell now.
