So do I :rotfl:
I have a ticket and one for the euro's but tbh I've no comprehension of that amount of money. I'll have a stab at it tho...
a) Money into trust funds for my daughter that she can access at different ages and building the amount over time.
b) Trust funds for my little brother, nieces, and two best mates children.
c) Buy a nice modest detached house - could pick a gorgeous one up around here for 500K and deck it out in all furnishings etc of my choice. Also must have stables and a paddock.
d) Buy a new car or two... one day to day and one flash car.
e) Both my parents have paid off their mortgages so I'd have to consult them on what "gifts" they'd want but i'd be sure they could retire.
f) Hire a cleaner, stable hand, chef...
g) Buy my 2 best friends a house each, new car and pay off their debts.
h) A large chunk would go into savings etc so the interest would be my "wages" and i'd share a portion of this with my best friends.
i) Travel the world.
j) Put my daugter in a private school when she reaches school age.Daughters Sealed Saving Pot - start them young :money: £90 :T0 -
I asked my OH about this and he said he'd buy lots of land in the country and have a huge house built with loads of bedrooms, an underground swimming pool, a huge kitchen and a library (the last two were my requests). And for some reason, he wants an underground recording studio. Not sure why, neither of us are very musical though he'd like to learn guitar and I'd like to learn to sing. (Those can go on the list too). Though I suppose we could rent it out to local bands. And he wants to take me to Disneyland Florida for a month and stay in the Animal Kingdom Lodge.
Personally, I'd like to do up my car (1967 Morris Minor, in a bit of a battered state atm), give 1m to the Red Balloon Learner Centres (my charity of choice), invest enough to live without ever working again, send my dad to America to travel Route 66 on a motorbike and then set him up with some money to start a vineyard in France (two dreams of his), buy my mum a static caravan somewhere nice and send my grandparents on a around-the-world cruise and I could volunteer at one of the Red Balloon's centres for the rest of my life. Oh, and buy a 4 or 5 bed house in Bath and rent it out to students. And go to Australia for a month. And buy V for Vendetta on DVD.Though thinking about it, I'm not sure 17m would cover all of that, at least not all at once. I might have to save first and use the interest to do some of the stuff later.

Pay off the student loan and my parents' and OH's mortgages.
Send my parents off on a nice holiday and buy them a holiday home.
Take my friends on a first class trip to a spa retreat somewhere peaceful.
Take my god daughter to Disneyworld.
Buy a house for myself and OH.
Sponsor a charity project somewhere.0 -
I've no idea if the lottery has been won tonight. I wonder if its anyone on Mse? if it has?
One thing that strikes me is that many of these replies have two common themes.
1) How kind hearted many individuals are in their virtual, or would be, generosity to family, friends, charity, etc
and
2) The great love / aspiration of all of us to travel around the world, ( so its not just me who is a wanderlust )
Winning a substantial amount of money, would give us all the freedom of choice, or ability to achieve our aspirations. :ADebt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?
