That's brilliant... and what a lovely man you've married!

And a pat on the back for you because that took a lot of courage :T:T:T

  • As the husband of the woman who originally started this forum thread, I would like to thank you all for your advice (and the subsequent compliments!) which helped my wife to tell me everything about her debt situation.

I suspected something was wrong but I wish that she had told me sooner, as I could have arranged to pay off her debt, either with a lower-interest rate (eg: remortgage) or with my (our!) savings, which would have meant a lot less stress and worry for her.

That she kept this from me hasn't made me love her any less and I'm glad I am in the position to help her with her past financial problems, which she's shown clear remorse and, more importantly, total change from her previous spending issues.

I hope anyone reading this thread learns from the lesson my wife has learned that indeed a problem shared is a problem halved, and to listen to all the great advice that Moneysavingexpert forum members have to offer.

    Thanks. :T You're great.

Good luck to you both in getting everything sorted:)

  • Well I have told him and all I can say is my husband is remarkable. There was no anger, no upset, no fallout just sadness that
I hadn't felt able to do it sooner.

All he gave me is support and reassurance of how much he loves me. He was relieved I told him and he even felt sorry for me for what I had been going through!!!
He says I should learn from if but let go of any guilt. I have certainly learnt one big lesson.

The loan and card are being paid off by him, no question of repayment. He says it is our money. I am so very lucky to have such a husband.

Thank you all so much. I hope that I can be of use and give advice and support to people on here now.

    Xx

Here to offer help and advice, and maybe take a little in return.

Whilst I am happy to share my knowledge, I am in no way a professional... I can not therefore accept responsibility for inaccurate info, I ask that you take professional advice rather than rely totally the info provided by myself

This whole thread has made me cry, so glad to see two people who love each other and share a problem.

Heart warming to see so many MSE's offering support too.

Thank you for letting us know... :) and I'm so pleased you've worked it out.
I think I said somewhere that crises can make or break a relationship, or words to that effect. You two clearly have so much going for you. :)
