    Doesn't allow transfers in though.

And given that I'm getting 3.2% on the rest of my ISA money from Halifax, it's not worth the extra 0.05% (£2.67) to open the Barclays one; might as well just keep it together.

I've put last year's ISA into Halifax now the bonus has expired on it dropping to 0.5%.

That said I will be putting the £5340 for 2011/2012 into Santander (I'm a current account customer getting 3.3%) the extra 0.1% is not the issue for me, the fact it tracks the base rate is.

If the base rate goes up in the next 12 months, and I think it will, the Santander are Barclays rates have to go up, the Halifax rate may not and you have no way of moving to Santander or Barclays if it happens as they don't accept transfers in.
If you don't like what I say slap me around with a large trout and PM me to tell me why.

I have that ISA too, but the base rate guarantee is more valuable than the extra 0.05%. So my new money is not going into Halifax.

I was going to open the Santander 3.15% one that doesn't accept transfers in, and fund it from the 6th April as you get 30 days from opening to funding before they close it down.

Now I'm much more tempted by Barclays so I can avoid being a Santander customer again. But it looks as though I couldn't open the Barclays one until April if it is still around. I might open the Santander one anyway, and fund it if there is nothing better still around in April, and if there is, open that instead and close the Santander one unfunded. Can anyone see a better answer?

Santander don't close accounts after 30 days unfunded from my experience, they say they do but I've opened 3 before and funded them more than 30 days later, can't guarantee it though. Last year the golden ISA from Barclays was available a good while after April 5th.

Last year the golden ISA from Barclays was available a good while after April 5th.

It was only available with the 1% bonus to those who applied between 8 March 2010 and 1 June 2010. So don't leave it too long! I was going to wait until July 2010 to open it (as that was when I could fund it), but fortunately decided to to open it with £1 on 6th May.

To get the bonus on the original Golden ISA you had to apply by the end of June 2009, apparently.

I've put last year's ISA into Halifax now the bonus has expired on it dropping to 0.5%.
Just phone them up and ask for the account to be redesignated to the Isa Direct Reward 4, which pays 3.00% (plus 0.20% for qualifying current account customers).

    Hi,

I have the Golden ISA issue 2 from this tax year. Does anyone know if I will be able to transfer this into the Issue 3 after the April deadline - ie does the account accept transfers from previous Barclays Golden ISAs?

    Many thanks

NO, unfortunately you cannot transfer any Previous years ISA into Golden ISA 3, regardless of if those were with Barclays.

if you already are a barclays customer, then opening it online takes 5 minutes and it works fine.

I'll open mine 6th April, as already have a golden 2 for this year.
