My local 99p Store has just got back in stock the lovely gingham covered wicker baskets. They are actually rather nice. I hope to use these for hampers. Never done them before and am a little nervous as I dont want it to look like I just chucked stuff in a basket or look tight.

There are some amazing gifts on here so I am inspired to give it a go. So far I am doing my BIL a retro sweet box, my bestest buddy a selection of her favourite smellies (as requested) not sure yet about my 2 sisters. I do know that I am doing a Rat Pack themed hamper for my sisters birthday in January, I have most of those bits already.Boots Card - £17.53, Nectar Points - £15.06 - *Saving for Chrimbo*2015 Savings Fund - £2575.000 -

When I made one for my brothers/brother in laws last year I put it in a wooden satsuma box from the market (also lidls). I put some hay/straw (tesco value or you could scrounge someone who has a pet), and laid the bottles down packed in it. Finished them off with a large brown luggagge tag.crispeater wrote: »i've thought about doing my BIL a real ale and chocolate hamper but i cant think of a good thing to put it in rather than just a box.. i had thought of a half a barrel or something like that but i'd never find anything.. anyone have any ideas

I bought some beautiful patterned boxes from Ikea yesterday, about £2.20 for a set of two. They're big enough to hold a fair amount, and have lids too - I can wrap them up with the lid underneath the box, and the recipient can use the box afterwards . It will probably get more use than a standard wicker hamper, plus it's cheaper !!0

Hi Crispeater,
Was in wilkinsons yesterday and they had some tin pales (a simpson one, which said beer on I think, and a retro one, they were in the household kitchen section £2.99 I think,
Just an idea, they could keep their beer cool in them!0
