Mrs T, I think the basket looks lovely. How about putting a flannel in the bottom of your basket to bulk it up a little bit. Wilkos are fab for cheapy ones or tesco do a white value one for about 19p. You could even add in a little pack of cotton wool to go with the nivea and pad it out a bit for a few pennies. Savers chemist had the smaller packs of cotton wool pads for about 50p, I think.

Have you tried putting an elastic band around the socks before putting in the case? I find that holds the socks/ flannel together a bit tighter IYKWIM.

What a fab idea re the cotton wool and flannels hadnt thought of that THANKS :D I will put them at the bottom to bulk it up is that what you mean?

The elastic band might help a bit although the problem I am finding is that if you look in the pic the socks are much higher than the sides of the cupcake and other peoples pics were not like that and I really think mine just looks stupid. :-(

I am supposed to be doing about 9 different people btwn family and friends and at this rate its gonna be a gift bag :o

    hi lush

the muffin cases are lovely yes. I did not realise there were different sizes. Did you buy them off ebay? I am sure they only sold the one size but will check.

Thanks for the info on halfing them widthways I am gonna try that right now. Do yours look ok then?

EDIT - Just tried that and I am still not happy with it. Will give another try tmrw. I have never been that artistic or crafty.
  • shaz_mum_of _2 - the teapot was from ebay - actually it all was

Normal cases- thin card like ones, they seem fairly sturdy :j

WOW Im really impressed with everyones hampers they are looking fab im soo jealous. I have started making my first one but think I will have to add a few more bits n bobs as its looking a bit bare.

I also tried to do the cup cake sock thing and its a disaster. I am so disappointed you guys make it look easy.

I would appreciate any help on this. Here is some pics so you can see where i am going wrong. thank you

Your basket looks fine mrs T , but if you wnted to improve it you could pad out the bottom with cotton wool balls or cheap flannels as someone else suggested, go for whites or blues to complement the colours of your products. Also if you arrange the stuff so the tall toni and guy stuff is at the back in the centre and the other stuff around it your basket will look much fuller. Hope that helps.
can't help with the muffins as haven't made any of those:o

Fold the sock in half, iron all of it except the top 1cm. Then roll it with the un ironed section to the top this should make the top still look fluffy
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.
