  • Thank you so much for taking the time to post these. I have an 8 year old step sister to buy for and I'm planning on getting her lots of crafty bits to keep her occupied when she comes to visit her Dad or us. These look absolutely lovely- just what I was looking for:D

  • Hi all, calling on you creative lot, daughter needs to dress up as a character from alice in wonderland.
i wondered if you have an simple ideas on what I could do for Friday:eek:

As a last resort I can decorate a hat, that is what they said if need be....but wanted to have a go at creating something. Some mums are going to go to the shop to buy one however I don't want to do that.

    Regards, Mr and mrs t
  • Could she do Alice? Blue dress, white apron and an Alice band? A toy white rabbit would be a good addition....

Queen of hearts? You could always print off playing cards to attach to a party dress (with lots of netting under-skirt maybe to make it more queen like) and make a crown?

Many moons back my DD had to do the same, I made a white fur rabbit suit added a real simple waistcoat and made a big cardboard pocket watch to go in the pocket. I realise the rabbit suit isn't practical but could you do white top, white bottoms, homemade big white pom pom on the bottom and an hair band with cardboard ears or craft wire ears and white tights like they make those angel/fairy wings.

mrs t I cross posted, queen of hearts sounds great too.
  • In my Good Housekeeping magazine (words my teenage self thought I would never say...:o ) there is a feature on making a mulled wine gift. It's basically a bottle or red wine with a muslin square of spices, then a star anise and cinnamon stick tied to the muslin to look like a little flower. Not a very good description I'm afraid but hopefully you get the idea:rolleyes: .

I'm going to give it a good bash as I have a couple of bottles of red that we've been given and we don't drink it. I'll post a pic if it works!:j

I need to make a new home kit, I know a lot of people have made them already but this thread is huge, any suggestions? So far I have:

washing up bowl (for the basket)
washing up sponges (to bulk out the bottom)
tea towel (to cover the ugly sponges!)
    light bulbs
    candles
    nice serving spoons?
    pizza cutter?
    parmesan grater?
    garlic press?
