kbl - think that was suggested once before. No, haven't tried it. Might give it a go. Last one I did I ended up soaking it so many times, then using a palet knife and still got scratch marks I had to cover up with a design.

I got my sweetie boxes from woolworths and they were black........was going to do one for my sons 40th (did the grandchildren sweetie boxes instead of easter eggs and son went potty over them...........lol Then I couldn't find where I'd put the wretched box (had tidy up when baby grandson came up in June..........lol) Found it this morning when hunting for the 'missing flannels' so now he'll get a sweetie box for Christmas -and a flannel yule log..........lol
I got my sweets for the boxes from woolworths but didn't use the pick n mix....they had some packets 3 for price of 1 so I had an assortment of those -worked out cheaper.
Biggest problem was getting the sticky label off the front of the box !

If you have a Betterware or Kleeneze person calling in your street they have a sticky remover liquid called 'sticky stuff remover' it costs £4.99 from Betterware. Lakeland also sell it.
If you don't have a person calling on you you can look on your website for a representative near you and give them a call or e-mail them for a catalogue - don't buy it online or you will have to pay postage I think.
It is well worth it especially if you are in the habit of buying sale items which tend to have the most difficult stickers added on for the sale
  • Just recieved my book people order, got the tea leaf reading book for my tea hamper. Also bought a book called 'dont get me started' It says - way beyond a grumpy rant about modern life.

Ideal for mens hampers, especially for only £2! There is a free p&p code lingering around somewhere

Definitely gonna add baskets to my Christmas to do list.

I plan to get a box and alter art it with scrapbooking papers and embellishments for my mum to make a special book lovers box then put some book related things inside ie a door hanger (see Rainmac's thread for inspiration!) mine will be a book one (somehow) got a reading light thought I would stick a few other bits in there including a book obviously!

    Thanks for all the ideas!

We do have a Kleeneze chap call and I have thought about this stuff before but not sure I'd get my moneys worth. Half the things I get the labels just fall off.........might give it a go though. Bound to use it all eventually

furrypig - make her a nice bookmark with some thick card or material and some beads or something. I'm doing one for my 'bookworm' friend

White spirit is great for getting sticky label residue off of things, and much cheaper than the Kleeneze solution.

Failing the above a good cheaper method of removing the white residue is hot water in a sink :) I removed a well stuck label off a wine bottle last night within about 20 mins. The glue sticky stuff also came off with a quick rub.

    Thanks.
Hot soapy water seems to shift most labels but these woolworthsa ones are really stuck hard. I do have some white spirit so might try that before I go down the kleeneze route (though have to admit that could be handy to....this it shifts all sorts of sticky stuff)
