Well I gave my warm pamper basket to mum yesterday and she was thrilled. She said I thought you were on a budget and cutting back.... (new spend less than £5). When I saw my dad a little while ago I just gave him a tub of plants and was a bit embarrassed so we topped it up yesterday with a black gift bag (freebie) and a bird feeder and bird recognition book and seed (we already had) and he was really chuffed. So far then baskets real success!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hello
I love all your hampers.
I'm going to make my niece a baking hamper for Christmas. I have bought lots of the cheap cake decorating stuff (from Tesco) and cake cases and I'm on the look out for a mini muffin tin from TKMaxx. I have also made her a apron, can anyone think of anything else I could make her to match it that is baking/cooking related.
I was going to buy one of those little plastic shopping trolleys to put it in do you think she will be too old for this she will be just 5.
PS WD40 gets sticky marks off I have a special pen rather than a spray.0 -

Just had a flash of--probably indigestion
--but what about a little step-stool jobbie for little ones, so they can reach the table to do the baking/crafts without the adult having to navigate around a cumbersome dining room chair?
And I think I've seen some kiddie sized trollies that you put your shopping in once you've paid, as opposed to the ones you use to go round the supermarket? Or failing that, those suitcases on wheels, so they could 'help' with the shopping but also having something to pack when they go & stay with grannie
Might be an idea to check out the craft sections in places like Woolies for miniature rolling pins & playdough cutters in more child-friendly shapes, but to be used for biscuits instead?Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

 Amberbunny! Do you have some of that material left over?
What about little sleeve covers, to wear over her arms & help keep her clothes a bit out of the way? You wouldn't have to keep pulling up her sleeves either, when she washes up:D I'm thinking an oblong of material sewed together down the long sides to make a long narrow tube. Hem both ends, but thread elastic in one end for the wrist & a bit of ribbon to tie around the elbow....less chance of cutting off the circulation that way:rolleyes:
They'r be pretty good for boys too tho...bit of camoflague/ dinosaur/ robot/ footie print material--make the apron more to resemble a craftsman's pinny with a bigger double pocket in the front & the arm protectors.....look how many chefs there are, so why not encourage the male fraternity too:DFull time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

.
What about packets of vegetables or herb seeds to further encourage her cookery skills- carrots for carrot cake or tomatoes or basil for pizzas etc etc?? and of course cress for egg & cress sandwiches

I am doing something similar and Wilkinsons had kids baking sets in for £1.50. Think they've only just come in and they had a little rolling pin, cookie cutters and pastry wheels. They were hanging up with the other kitchen stuff. I also bought a small plastic bowl and little wooden spoon for 30p/40p each I think! I am also going to add a packet of cake mix to make small cakes. Have seen cartoon character ones in Tesco or cheaper Tesco own pack for 50p ish.0 -
Another hamper made for my MIL's Birthday which was today, I couldn't put the pics up before she got it, because she sometimes lurks on the MSE boards
Unwrapped:
Basket - Instore £3.00
Book - £3.50
Mug - £1.00
Cappaucino Sachets - already had
Toiletries - Used boots points for deals
Candle - £1.00
Hand Towel - £1.00
Total: £9.50
Wrapped
This was the original 10m gold swirl wrapping I ordered from ebay but I am not sure I like it. The last one I used was white dots 5m that came free with my order and I think i like it better. I dunno, to me the swirl looks kinda messy when it is bunched together:coffee:0 -
Your hamper is lovely. I like your cello - not ordered any of my own yet though - probably should. I don't think it looks messy. Nice gift tag too. You are certainly getting good value for money as I would have thought that would all have cost you far more.
When I gave a hamper to my mum - she gave me the shredded plastic back to use in another hamper - how MSE is that!:money:Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
