Shaz, can't believe the prices of some of those baskets on ebay for what you get inside! You could def do better!!! Was thinking about your baskets last night, how about a kiddie craft one, lots of cheapie bits around at moment as its school holidays. Also how about a cooking basket where you add the items and a recipe card for the recipient to make the gift - e.g. choc muffins could include cocoa, bar choc, muffin cases, wooden spoon... If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0

For anyone who is thinking of doing baskets for sale like Shaz, here's an idea for you. Had to go into my local crafter's shop recently (she also supplies school uniforms) and she was selling baskets of homemade jam. She had three sizes available, all in small jars with colour coordinated lid covers and pretty (colour co-ordinated) printed labels. They ranged in price from €14 for the 4 jar basket to €28 for the 7 (larger) jars basket. Wasn't cheeky enough to take a photo, sorry, but would be really easy for someone who is handy in the kitchen to do, and I bet they would sell really easily, I was seriously tempted, even though they were expensive!! HTH,
My neighbour gave me a small jar of lemon curd she'd made and it was absolutely delicious, my son made lemon curd tarts (jam tarts but with curd) with most of it - what a sin, I really wanted it slathered thickly on crusty bread:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -

I was thinking that too how weird especially as some of the fairs would be in schools so had thought about cooking with kids basket ...........i have seen some baking sets for kids really cheap but can't remember where??? homebargains probably
Ideas for Kids baking set
cutters
apron
rolling pin
small cookbook (fairy cakes /cookies)
wooden spoon
bun cases
novelty cake mix in a box(barbie, postman pat etc HB do these sometimes for 30p)
teatowel/oven glove
all presented in a bright mixing bowl.............any suggestions
hbl - re the jams :i do make jam but bit worried about selling it due to hygiene regs ....................not worried 'cos my kitchens mucky just don't want the hassle ...............been there done that (used to have a catering business)Plus i think new rules designed to prevent using a normal kitchen unless you make it a industrialised kitchen ie no washing machine allowed in food prep areas no pets allowed in kitchen etc etc

tray
tea towel
apron

I think there could have been oven mitts too,,,,,& sorry, I didn't have time to look at the prices too closely.Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

I mentioned awhile back when I posted my weekend away hamper about the canvas I was in the process of making for my parents, well its finished! Just thought I would share.
It cost a whole two pounds for the canvas and the silver pen was also 2 pounds but I can barely count that as it will be used for many things.Debt free wannabe
