You do realise that this thread will have to be indexed before long, so we can catagorise all the ideas lol

For those doing a grumpy hamper, Lakeland have a Grumpy Old Man mug in their half price sale (and if you want to order other stuff, there's a £10 of £25 code on the boards too).

Just ordered one for dad's 60th hamper later in the year, along with a selection of shaped chocs, flavoured fudges etc (their dates are normally good to July at least, going on past Christmas sales)

Thinking of getting a Chicken Soup for the Soul book for MIL and noticed there's one thats 'a Christmas Treasury'............might be worth noting for someones list.I'm putting it on mine.
Terry Wogan did a book last year..............'Mustn't Grumble'............might be a good one for Grumpys.

I need ideas for an engagement hamper. Ive got a bottle of fizz already and im thinking some choccies and im stuck there! Dont want to put glasses in it as they will already have some. Moneys a bit tight at this time of year so cheapish suggestions please.

    Emma :)

    Massage oils?

    candles?

    Oil burner?

Have you seen the Good Fairys website on this board. Some of her wax melt things to go in the burner - I think she is planning on making some for valentines day so would be good for engagement?

    :)
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

In Hobbycraft they have clear cello card bags in different sizes @ half price. Great for home made chocs, soaps, mallow/choc drink gifts (as in my basket)

Saw some decent sized baskets today with linen interior for £4.99 each is that a good price or are they available cheaper else where? This thread has inspired me to make baskets for this year's pressies. Any pointers would be welcomed especially smaller baskets for DD friends birthdays.
    Thanks guys

Edit: what about celophane, can you buy it on a roll or in sheets and where from?

Thanks for the suggestions. I had it all planned out, bottle of fizz, bottle of wine, box of chocs, meal voucher, babysitting voucher so they could go out for their meal and some nice candles..... then they announced baby number two is on the way so out goes the bottle of wine, they can still get the fizz, and in goes some nice pamper smelly things for mum so its now an engagement and pregnancy hamper. Much easier!

It will depend on the size, but I think most baskets on here have cost around £2-£3 on average.

It's worth checking out charity shops and car boots (I got a lovely one just before christmas - new, wicker and metal, about 18 inch each way, and only £2).

Ikea do some nice baskets, as do Poundstretcher/Instore and those types of stores. Au Naturel is another name that pops up fairly often (not one near me though, so can't say what they have right now).

As for cellophane - a lot on here get it from an eBay seller called Flower Hour, she's one of the best, although there are others. It would also be worth asking the local florists - some will try to charge extortionate prices, but some can be amazingly cheap.
