I would just like to say a big thankyou to all the people who posted ideas and pictures on this thread. I found this thread late but because of the pics I went for it this year and made the hampers. Everybody who received one loved it and nobody wanted to open them and ruin them! Some of the presents worked out cheaper and some didn't because of the contents but the presentation made them all look really expensive.

I used some old voile curtains to wrap some in a cream and gold colour - and these looked really christmassy and expensive. Others I wrapped in a clear with small pattern cellophane trimmed with ribbon and bows. In the future I would use a darker, denser coloured cellophane so the recipient couldn't see any of the contents before opening.

I have a B&M bargains near me and for my nieces hamper I included a "Knock at the door " pink hair crimper/straigthener/curling tonge,£3.99 a crown shaped pink wooden jewellery box trimmed in pink fur £1.99, a pink wooden money box with a bit that spins saying chocolates/shoes etc99p and a pink lockable diary and pink pen £1.49 - total including basket £10 but because of the hamper it looked so much more expensive and individual. The money box and jewellery box came in cheap, plastic containers but taken out of these and put in the basket on pink tissue paper and silver thread they looked really cool and funky. The best bit was the reduction in wrapping I had to do and everyone also said - I can use the basket too.

Many, many thanks - how soon before people become sick of hampers from me?

Love the idea of wrappingin voile curtains..................I'm a soft touch for pretty curtains always thinking I'll find a use for them. Got drawers full in the spare room...........some voile, some cotton type but in pretty material............hadn't thought of using them instead of cellophane but I'm sure I must have enough kicking around.
    Thanks for that
