Given how supportive everyone has been to me I thought it only right to let you all lnow how I'm doing.
Baby Ruaridh* (pronounced Roo-Ray for anyone confused LOL ) was born on April 13th.
He's gorgeous and I fell in love the minute I saw him. :T
He's been a handful and I'm even falling asleep typing this. Despite him being awake for hours on end and only going back to sleep now, when I need sleep or the internet, I love him to bits.
I know it will be a rocky ride, certainly not the one I would have chosen for myself but I'm sure I'll get there in the end.
Now I have to deal with the bureaucracy of child benefit , child tax etc. I'm sure any paperwork will be a small price to pay in order to help keep this wee one in nappies etc.
I cannot thank you all enough for your advice and understanding.
I am annoyed at posting at this time, most people who helped me on this thread won't be around to see my reply, but blame Ruaridh. :rotfl:
* I thought I should give him a strong identity (Seeing as his Dad will never feture in his lfe) and the only real identity he had was being conceived/born/raised in Scotland. Therfore I gave him a Scottish name.

Congratulations. I hope you and your new son have a lovely life together.
I have just caught up with your update and the news about how your Mammy came through with such support has made me cry.0 -
Read your thread way back in the beginning when you first posted- am so happy for you and love the name you have picked - a nice strong masculine name, but no doubt he'll be called a few things at times!
take care and "GET SOME SLEEP" when he's sleeping!skintbint x

I don't have any new advice to give, but i just wanted to congratulate you on the birth of your baby boy. You have been incredible and may God give you the strength to continue on being so. Also if you feel overwhelmed by the tax credit forms just post on the child benefit/ctc's forum and you'll always have help on demand.
Have a wonderful Easter!0 -
Congratulations, your positive attitude in the face of so much adversity is really inspiring

Congratulations- so very glad he is here safely. You've chosen a lovely name too.
I wish you lots of luck on your journey together- I joke with my oldest that she has been my guinea pig (was born when I was 18) but she's turning out just fine! (she's a teenager now, she'd tell me if she thought I'd messed up, believe me.)
I'm glad your Mam is there for you- Grandmothers are a wonderful thing.
With the tax credits & child benefit get your forms in quickly because if you get awarded them before he's three months old you'll still have oportunity to claim a sure start grant (by being eligible for higher than the basic rate CTC's you'll qualify for the grant) I'm sure that would go quite a way for you right now.:j BSC #101 :j0 -
